ramzi is clean
His coach is Khalid Boulami, Brahim's brother.
Ramzi isn't quite as much of a flash in the pan as some people have made out on this thread, but his performances are nonetheless very suspicious.
His 1500m PB by the end of 2003 was 3:39. He did, however, beat Shaheen to win the Asian Championships that year.
In 2004, he won the silver in the 800m at the World Indoor Championships. He then won the Rome Golden Gala 1500m, beating El Guerrouj among others, in 3:30. But he then failed to reach the finals in the Olympics.
We know how he did at the World Championships in 2005. He had a couple of other good races that summer, but by the World Athletics Final he could finish only 8th.
In 2006, he ran 1:44 and 3:29, but followed up those times with some bad races and hasn't been heard from since.

Yeah I remembering him at World Cross, but I didn't recall him at any Indoor meets. I guess to better phrase my question, has he ran an outdoor meet yet and plan on running at the World Championships?

he set a world record indoors....
Wait....are you saying he had some really good races and than some ok one's?
We better start bashing this guy better.
Drugs, inconsistent, what else can we get here.
And I want to see more bashing, more often, and yes letsrunners....get personal.
maybe if some of the posters attempted building up to Rashid's workload of 180-200km/week ((with 4 workouts!)), they would produce some tidy performances! You don't know until you try!- the human body is very adaptable!

Interesting thread. Ramzi, Tyson gay bith called out prior to being busted.

Any idea how a man builds up to 200k/wk (with 4 workouts?)? Is it really as easy as just hard work and press-ups?

I wouldn't even blink if it came out that Ramzi was a cheat. Check out his year-to-year progression on iaaf.org, he goes from being an elite-but-not-world-class runner to a world-beater in one year. The guy drops something like 10 or 15 seconds off his 1500 in one year...hmm...methinks there's an all-too familiar pattern here.
Again Codeppe reveals himself as a notorious liar who distorts facts to support his British heroes.
Ramzi did not drop '10 or 15 seconds off his 1500 in one year'. Ramzi ran 3:39.30 in 2003 and 3:30.25 in 2004. That is a difference of only 9.15 seconds, but facts mean nothing to the notorious Codeppe with his agenda to blacken the reputation of Moroccan runners.
In Codeppe's racist world, Ovett's 3:30.77 makes him more worthy of celebration than Ramzi, who ran 3:29.16 in 2006 after only three years of heavy EPO use.
He even gets his facts wrong with Ramzi's coach. Ramzi was not coached by the Boulami brother whose EPO abuse was caught, he was coached by the Boulami brother whose EPO abuse was not caught. But facts mean nothing to the liar Codeppe.

Yes, Ovett is more worthy of celebration than Ramzi becuse he, unlike Ramzi, was never caught for using PED´s.
This has to be the most stupid post on LRC in a long time, and that´s saying a lot.

I think you're just splitting hairs here. So, Ramzi improved "9.15" seconds in one year instead of the "10" seconds mentioned. 9.15 secs is very significant: ~4% in one year! And don't forget Ramzi's astronomically high off-scores of 157.8 & 148 @ Helsinki where won double-gold. Lol.
So he trained with Khalid Boulami instead of his Brahmin (who tested positive IC for rocket fuel when he set the WR). Big deal - does it make a difference that Ramzi trained with Khalid instead of Brahmin when the whole country has such a strong culture of doping anyway?
Fun tidbit with Morrocan 1500 meter runners: Did you know that 3 of their top 6 all-time fastest runners were caught doping? (Ramzi, Amine Laâlou & Adil Kaouch). And wasn't it Kaouch that paced El G to his 15 WR?

is there anyone in the sport of track and field as suspicious as rashid ramzi? the dude comes out of pretty much nowhere to win the world 800 and 1500 in a very tough double (six total races), runs a few more low-key races, then disappears entirely. not to mention that the 800 win was a freakin personal best at the time! oh, and he used to be moroccan, but was bought by Bahrain; those athlete-buying nations are about as trustworthy as the old East Germany as far as sportsmanship goes.
i can't think of any other athlete on the world scene that i honestly believe is on PEDs, but i am all but sure that ramzi is. actually, ritz's straight-from-rehab 10k win and 2mi breakthrough (immediately after switching to salazar) is kind of shady, but that's for another thread.
This guy is good and very perceptive.

I'm sure Ramzi improved 9.15 sec in a year because he just wasn't serious in his training yet. People give Aouita such a hard time for being suspicious, but that's almost exactly double the seconds (4.54) improved by Aouita after his move to Italy in late 1982. He was stuck at 3:37 for 3 years previous, then dropped to 3:32...then 3:31...then 3:29 the next 3 years.
So how does Rekrunner explain Ramzi's progress again? Was Ramzi just an exceptional responder?
Actually, I don't think I want to know, I'm still hung over from last night.

I hear testosterone, growth hormone, and EPO help with the build up.

The "just wasn't serious in his training yet" line was used quite a bit for Sir Mo. I never wanted to be one of these people, but the sport really has lost it's luster for me. Just too much suspicion for every athlete, even the ones I really like such as Bekele and Kipchoge. I still half heartedly hold onto reasons why I think people who show continual talent right from the start (Bekele, Hailie, etc) are clean, but I'm just not that interested in following the sport closely because the cloud of doubt is always looming.
So now I treat letsrun like a small town version of 4chan, arguing about politics and such. Sorry letsrun moderators, I wish talking about the sport itself wasn't such a drag.

And a number of people here still maintain that Aouita and El G are likely innocent. Even if there was no additional circumstantial evidence (for example : Aouita's weird progression, 'Doctor Syringe', and chased out of Australia for telling his athletes to take peds) you'd have to be naive that Moroccan runners only started doping when there was reasonably effective testing available.
Mind you, the Kenyan top 6 all time list is scarcely better. Bernard Lagat and Kiprop at numbers 1 and 2, Ngeny at number 4 before his dodgy 'car accident'.

Oh no, somebody called his name! Ughh, now he will come trolling full speed again, and it was so nice and quiet here.
