I know with is completely off topic, but who hangs up their shoes? I've heard this phrase before, in similar context, but it's never made much sense. Is this what you're expected to do when you quit something (ie hang up the footwear involved in given endeavor)? When I walk into the home of a retired runner, should I expect to find a pair of shoes hanging by the door with the coats?
