i have watched and run against this guy for 3 years now. he is quite the runner. his first year at acu he surprised everyone and dominated d2 nats in cross as a freshman over peter kosgei (the same guy that is running for arkansas now, who went on that year to come in 2nd in the 3000 at ncaa indoor champs and 3rd in the 10000 outdoors for arkansas).
that year in track he was second in the stanford 5k in 13 39 and won the penn steeple i believe. at nats he made everyone look like a fool in the steeple with his terrible form and he came back to win the 5k over a very fit celedonio rodriguez.
the next year in cross country his only loss was when he came in second at the chili pepper race to boit. at d2 nats he won by over a minute at a hot race in pomona. show-boating the whole way.
in track that year he ran a solid 5k pr (13 34) at mt sac (as already mentioned) and he lead college athletes in the steeple reguardless of division with that 8 29 at penn. at nats he dominated the steeple yet again and in the 5k he hung back and won the race in the last 50 meters over mario macias (28 02 and 13 38 and 3 42 last year in the 10/5/15).
this year in cross he went undefeated including his wins at chilipepper and nats.
indoors this year he looked week, he had a dissapointing 14 01 at tyson and he seemed vulnerable. he lost the mile to aucencio for the second time(the only d2 athlete to beat him yet(not including relays)) and won a very close race in the 5k over kim hogarth.
then he went and ran 28 07... and ran 8 38 LESS than a week later. he is unreal, and could beat any runner in the ncaa at steeple/5k/10k. i'm also willing to say that he is the best steepler in the ncaa, despite his terrible form. Itay, aaron et al would give him a run, hopefully kim will too. in a fast race he could go under 28, the same could POSSIBLY be said for a few d1 guys (rohat/rupp/solinski/the utep guys). Over 5k i'm not sure he has the kick to hang with the sub 4 legs of solinski etc. but he puts up a good fight in any race he is in.
that said, he is about the cockiest runner i have ever seen.
