I've done about 35 miles on a treadmill in the past 3 days due to more snow than I have ever seen before here in New Mexico. I would say the first 15 or so miles felt significantly more difficult than the last 20- I think your body gets accustomed to wherever it is you normally run. If you normally run on a treadmill, running outside is going to feel more difficult at first until your body adjusts. I haven't been on a treadmill for over a year, so 8 minute pace felt really fast at first but 7 minute pace is not so bad now- I could probably get used to the treadmill thing if it wasn't so freakin boring.
