Gary Tuttle is 5th in middle row, thin headband.
Maybe that's Ron Burgundy back row, left?
Middle row #6 has singlet that looks like UTSA or NTSU?
NOt sure if that is Wolhuter.
HEre is a link to picture link of him. YOu decide.
Looks like Wohlhuter to me. Hair, stache, and stature are dead giveaways.
front row #6 Scott Eden?
Russ Pate, Scott Bringhurst, Chris McCubbins, Glen Herold
malmo,
Jeff Wells won SWC xc meet for Rice in 73&74.
classic shot of the (still) most significant study group of u.s. distance runners. cooper got 'em there alright.
p.s. - i love the 'lecture face' and gesture of my old professor, and past president of american college of sports medicine, russ pate, he seems to be lecturing galloway.
Back, left corner is Michael Pollock (deceased), Exercise Physiologist formerly at U of TX and FL.
Mike Petersen looks like the lead guy in "My Name Is Earl"
Gary Tuttle is in the middle row, the third person from the right. He finished first in the 6-mile race.

Galloway has just been explaining his new "theory" or walk breaks and Pate is telling him it is ridiculous and nobody will ever buy into it.
Malmo, how could Lodwick and Wells be in high school when the photo was taken (January of 1975)? Lodwick was born March 16, 1954, and Wells was born May 25, 1954. These guys were 20 years old.

Also, are you sure that's Jim Crawford between Pre and Castaneda? It sure looks like Terry Ziegler. He was the reigning champion of the White Rock Marathon and apparently was in the control group of "sub-elite" locals. (I have seen Crawford and Ziegler in real life.)

Maybe they weren't in high school, but they had not yet accomplished anything in the sport enough to be invited with this select group. The marathoning feats which they are remembered for are well in the future of that pic.
No one's said it, but the guy in the trench coat is definitely NOT Bowerman. I'm positive that he's Kenneth Cooper himself, and I think someone's already pointed that out in one of the group listings.

All of a sudden this picture becomes very creepy....

Is that Sink in front of Casteneda?
Sid Sink
He does have a "Mean Green" sweatshirt on with the BGSU Falcon. I would agree.
Definitely Gary Tuttle in middle row w/ the string headband.

They guy on Pre's left looks like Nick Rose to me. But it could just be me.

Durden was a total unknown in 1975. Wouldn't have been invited.
