xc runners required to wear basketball shorts

agreed completely..it makes one wonder about these administrators.. i would put a years salary most of them are lurking the internet at night looking at 'barely legal' type porn

Back in high school in Alabama, we made fun of the guys who ran for Athens Bible School ... they wore knee length shorts for XC and track. I didn't realize that they were trend setters. The girls wore thick, over the knee skirts, they might have even been denim and probably weighed 10lbs when wet ... the girls now wear the "trendy" knee length basketball shorts.

Ummmm...maybe circa 1985 basketball shorts. 3 inch inseam is still shorty shorts.

For the record, my speedsuit (unstretched, 2006 model) has a 10" inseam, Nike team shorts (mens') have a 5" inseam, Nike split leg shorts have a 2" inseam (as do my old split-legs that I wouldn't be caught dead in away from a track these days). Nike boy-cut shorts for girls have a 3" inseam.

So what I think you have here is a blatantly sexist uniform policy: It only applies to girls wanting to wear briefs or buns. If as a coach you wanted to end your cross country program, a good way of doing it would be to require your boys to appear in public (i.e., race) in the 3" inseam shorts that are allowed under this policy.

Some of the girls should talk to NOW or the ACLU and tell the esteemed public official to go f--k himself.

actually, I do and that\'s how it manifests in some people and it\'s seems to be more prevalent in America more than in Europe and rest of the world. First speedos had to go, then the spandex,now the running shorts and according to this article they\'re wearing basketball shorts. That means they were already probably using soccer shorts but they were not long enough. What\'s next, the burka?

OK, wait, Women are safe around me and I'm a man. I don't rape them, even when they're running half naked. THose creatures who rape, etc are animals with problems.
