Why don't you stay awake in clas? The B sample is there only to allow the positive to be present, or have representative present, during the testing; otherwise the entire process would be inefficient.

The A sample only exists in the interest of efficieny.

There is enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that Jones is using or has in the past used performance enhancing drugs. She should have been banned ages ago. Either way, she's damaged goods.

I can't understand how Tim Montgomery was Banned for testimony that he used and Marion was not. Montgomery never had a positive drug test. It seems a little ridiculous that he is banned and she is not. Once again I was not there at the trial but there are numerous people on record saying she is a user.

I think the Brojos have mis-used their previliged position, to slander runners a few to many times..

I apologize for the testing of any of your samples. I know of no other Country in the world that tests their medal contenders and then tries to ban them from competition. USADA, WADA, etc. it's a joke. China, Morocco, Algeria, etc. (the list goes on and on) all have National Labs where their professional athletes can get the latest drugs to take them to the highest level. I am sorry that our Country doesn't follow suit. Not ONE Chinese athlete will test positive in the next few years and they will completely clean up at the Olympics unless we can send our best team.

Good luck if you choose to continue with Track and Field. My hope is that the drug testers don't follow you around. Go find Victor's cousin. I'm sure he's working on the elixir for 2008.

I'd say that there is some compelling evidence. Namely the doping schedule for Marion uncovered in the Balco labs.

To be guilty of libel when a public figure such as Marion Jones in involved, you must publish material you know to be false when you publish it. The Johnsons didn't do that. Class dismissed.

Passed, no; she just didn\'t fail the drug test. There\'s a difference. Just as we don\'t find defendants \"innocent,\" merely \"not guilty\"--there is a distinction.

Whether Marion in this instance was clean or not is irrevelent--the drug cheats stay ahead of the tests. With the current state of things, when in doubt it\'s probably more accurate to declare someone dirty than to declare them clean. Sad state of affairs.

Brilliant! that is the only apology she deserves.

damn you must have a thing for the brother, how would you know he has a big mouth, have you ever spoken to him.

There is no chance whatsoever that Marion could successfully sue Wejo and Brojo for libel. They have plenty of good reasons why they stated what they stated.

The Post reporter was Amy Shipley (link below).

I'm pretty sure she broke the A-sample story. Note the total absence of named sources. The only attribution is "sources with knowledge of the test results."

Shipley has done this more than once. Her attribution in the Aug. 25 story on Latasha Jenkins' allegedly positive test for nandrolone was ". . . according to sources who are familiar with the test results." As in the Jones case, Jenkins testing isn't complete until the results of a second test are obtained.

So Shipley has a habit of reporting these results prematurely, and it seems she's got a reliable leaker or two in the USADA or USATF. I think these organizations need to do some detective work. And maybe a libel suit or two against the Post is in order.

Didn't Rojo contribute a track story or two to the Post?

Are you a lawyer? Do you know what libel is? It is not libel to report facts, i.e., Marion Jones's 'A' sample tested positive.

Contrary to what some fool above suggests, libel isn't just publishing *known* falsehoods; it also includes publishing falsehoods that could reasonably be known by the journalist/publisher/jealous webmaster. Saying that someone is a drug cheat without proof is about as obvious a case as it gets. Think about the wording in articles about trials in progress. e.g. If Wejo is charged with child molestation, published media cannot call him a child molestor, only an *accused* molestor).

"Silly" career? Try hundreds of thousands of dollars lost, at least. Papers like the Post have been sued for far less. As I said earlier, no court would take Letsrun seriously enough to do anything about it.

We were talking about the Washington Post, not Wejo. I'm not aware of the Washington Post calling Marion Jones a "drug cheat." I am only aware of them reporting that MJ's A sample was positive.

Compared to the real world, yes, the world of sports is just silly. When people's lives are on the line every day in other, more important occupations, I have a hard time evoking sympathy for those lucky enough to make a living off of sports.
