With mono, the blood test confirms other outward symptons. With cancer, like doping, their are no outward symptons. So you test again, and again and again.
And, if the mono test is wrong, little harm comes from acting as if it's true. Not so with a cancer or doping tests.
Nothing in medicine is 100%. It is an inexact science which is why their is a b-sample.
