Just one more of these silly Everest records. This happened because of refined logistics and a lot of oxygen. Everest climbing with oxygen today is much easier than Everest climbing with oxygen in 1960 or 2000. Equipment is much lighter and they use much more of it at any given time.
Might be silly.
If so and you're right, a bunch more people will probably do it faster in the near future.
I'm not sure though. Most people on the mountain are driven in some way, but most don't have the physical ability to push as hard as a 2:16 marathoner.
