70% is pretty good. Granted there are legal fees to pay and if this was taken on contingency 50% of that might go to the lawyers. Still I didn’t think athletes would see any money.
Some big $$ for some of the runners. More than in any other running series
I'll believe when the checks clear. One thing for sure, Michael Johnson will never do lunch in town again. His future in the sport is over.
Nations have different laws. Since GST confessed to cheating athletes by posting the bankruptcy filing online, each nation can pursue collection, imprisonment, trial, summary execution, etc. It depends on the nation and what their culture does to entities who cheat their citizens. GST criminals will have to be aware that they will be arrested if they land in certain nations.

I just have a strong feeling that none of which you posted is true.
1. It was a stupid idea to begin with.
2. Their clients and vendors were stupid and gullible.
3. If you didn't get paid immediatly after the meet its because they didn't have any money. It was no different than walking into a haunted house on a dark and stormy night. Run away!
4. GRAND SLAM TRACK STUPID! MICHAEL JOHNSON STUPID! ATHLETES STUPID! VENDORS STUPID! BANKRUPTCY JUDGE STUPID! EVERYBODY STUPID!
I'm willing to bet the bankruptcy plan itself will go bankrupt. Prove me wrong?

Police scan airport databases to look for wanted criminals hopping though their countries. So you can be nabbed and jailed for life if you aren't careful. Vendors have property and investments and costs. They are not just down income, they have lost huge amiunts.
The athletes simply havent been paid monry they would never have expected elsewhere, and yet they have been paid.
Wtf?
My impression is that an outside investor offered a cash infusion, but only if most of the money goes to athletes. In the alternative where vendors get the same percentage as athletes, there would be no cash infusion, and thus payouts to vendors would be even smaller.
It's hard for me to figure out why an investor would be throwing good money after bad like this.

Vendors? if Ambulance Service, food wholesaler, beverage wholesaler, paper towel wholesaler, janitorial service, etc. then they should be 100% paid first abd foremost. The other so-called vendors are normally fan-bois, posers, wannabes, former High School Coaches, T&F and Running dweebs, who do it for free or lose money to lowball other fanbois from their turf. We've met them at numerous meets for decades and they tout some TV show or cheap cable or picked up indie cable, magazine, website, agent, this and that, They claim to know Allyson Felix, etc. Many are TV station owners in small towns who stay involved as volunteers. I've met farmers who shoot NFL games and have a mailing list of 100,000 locals to send free pictures to, that's how they get end-zone passes. So it's up to the judge to determine which fan-boi conspirator promoted GST to fraudulently promote GST sham, versus TRUE vendors selling Coca-Cola Syrup and Foutain Drinks.

thanks, that makes a certain amount of sense. But the more you look at it, the dodgier it gets.
the whole thing folded because bill ackman didnt pony up his promises. fair enough, he didnt have too.
so winners alliance bailed them out. who are winners alliance? from memory, they used to be the representatives of the professional tennis players (hence the 'slam' in the title).
However now they have rebranded themselves as holding the 'ip for athletes' - whatever the heck that is and whatever right they have to claim that....
so buying out the goodwill of athletes is very much in their rebranding. But how are they going to monetise it, and how are they answering to their original clients, the tennis players, by squandering their investment on such a vanity project loss leader like GST.
Its almost as if people are playing with other peoples money for their own entertainment.
oh, and who is chair if winners alliance? Bill Ackman.
and if all the above seems like a conspiracy theory - try typing 'winners alliance wiki' into google - you get GST!!
so my guess is, gst will go ahead because, like at the start, they arent spending their money. they certainly arent spending bill ackman's money but he is getting all the benefit. they are spending the money of the winnersalliance investors - who thought they were protecting their tennis player future, but are now gambling on owning this concept of an athlete's ip.
very few athletes can claim ip, but those that do - michael jordan, tiger woods, lewis hamilton, david beckham etc make a huge amount of money - which is what winnersalliance are trying to steal from them.

clever.
bs, GST led us on by promising big pay to struggling elites, agents, fanbois many of whom have never ever been paid a dime after decades of volunteering for the Love of the Sport. GST knew we never have nice paydays and yapped up a big campaign to draw us in. GST knew they hadn't the funds GST ploy used us to get a Billionaire investor to chip in. Well, Billionaires are billionaires because they know a jive time huckster when they see one.

GST thought US Bankruptcy would end the case. It Opened a can a worms to thousands of jurisdictions. OPen and Shut case since GST confessed to the Ponzi scheme. It's a done deal. Imagine running from the law for the rest of your life!

Noting alleged was criminal.
Each local judge, police chief, military dictator, religious cleric in those places follows local customs.

Using us as props to wiggle out funds from billionaires is really chicken zhit behavior.
I’m racing unattached at Baylor in the Michael Johnson Invitational this weekend. I would imagine he will be in attendance at his namesake meet hosted by his Alma-mater.
Should I wear one the WNBA’s “Pay Us What You Owe Us” shirts??
Bankruptcy judgement aside, there was one aspect of the GSL that I liked - races without rabbits. Rabbited races have their place, but it, IMO, it sucks when only championship races skip the rabbits. I'd rather see more real races, and fewer ones with rabbits.
Of course, I'm also in the camp that those steel plated shoes are cheating and athletes should not be able to see wave lights.
This is not to say that I loved the sit and kick off extreme slow paces that was the GSL races, but thats not all that different from a rabbited race when it comes down to it. Athletes find a place on the rail, stay there until the last lap or two and then kick. That's no more racing than sit and kick it.
Sure fast times are cool, but why are Olympic races so much more fun to watch? Some of it is the stakes involved, but much of it is just not knowing what is going to happen. Rabbits remove some of that. And it's for the worse IMO.
