My 2 kids run.
Kid #1 - 1600, 800, 4x400 (sometimes sub 800 for 3200)
Kid #2 - 200, 400, 4x400, and 4x200
I am there ALL day, but I honestly love it. In between events if it's a big meet, I go for a walk or get a snack/lunch. I always bring a book, but rarely read it since I enjoy watching the other kids on their team compete. My husband likes to nap in the car between events. Or I volunteer at the meet and help with field events (most meets always need volunteers!). Also, like others have said, I time getting there to coincide with the first event my kids are in. They rarely run the 4x800 and the 100 and 100 hurdles can take a couple of hours, so I get there before the 1600. Also, as someone else mentioned, most coaches can give you a pretty good estimate of when events are going to happen - maybe ask the coach(?).
