When he ran 3:30 at Maurie Plant, several of the coffee club guys were acting like he was in 3:27 shape as the track at Maurie Plant isn't fast and it was windy. The logic made senes to but I was still thinking, "Really?"
Having watched this last lap, I totally get it. Plus i mean the logic works out. 3:29 in a non-rabbitted race very well could be 3:27 in a Monaco type situation.
PS. Can we get that Aussie commentator for US track broadcasts? I love him. Who is that?
The only thing bad about the broadcast was too many close ups of Myers. We want to see the wide shot to see how much he's destroying everyone. Maybe one closeup on the last lap but otherwise save that for the replays.
It's nice it seems Myers progressing. I'm not sure if he's running CWGs but I hope so, I'd like to see him in a more competitive field.
I'm also happy for Olli. There was a good argument that he was one of the top three millers in the world for a period and I felt that he should have picked up a global medal. Last season, it was quite sad to see him at the back of the pack in DL races so I hope he can be competitive again this year.

I don't know why he wouldn't run Commonwealth Games. He skipped World Indoors. I guess there's also the Diamond League and World Ultimate Champs, but he can do those in addition to the CGs.
Between Kerr, Myers, and whoever Kenya sends (guessing Koech, T Cheruiyot, R Cheruiyot), the mile has the potential to be a great race at those champs.

Army is a weasel, as his remark about Myers’s great time shows. It proves that he’s just trying to irritate, nothing else. Myers, Ruthe, Lutkenhaus are all terrific. Smooth, relaxed, under 3:30. Amazing run by Myers. And it’s literaly killing Armstronglivs.

This has felt increasingly like the season Cam announces himself as a true world beater. Sort of like Laros last year in the lead-up to worlds. He's been a "promising youngster" for a while but now it feels like he could really take a race with Hocker, Kerr, etc and hunt down a win.
As for Ollie, how can you not be happy for the guy! I recently saw a replay of his Comm Games win and it might be one of my favorite races to rewatch. The emotion in the moment mixed with his talks about how much he was struggling mentally at the time make that one extra sweet. On the pod, they talked about how the Aussie selection is a bit of a toss-up for everyone except Cam but hopefully Ollie puts together a good racing CV this year because it was tough watching him chase it last year and not get to go to worlds.
Hoare with pretty impressive I think. Hung in to 3:29 pace for a good part of the race. A very positive result for him. Myers is a one in a million talent. A 3:29 time trial in April is nothing to sneeze at. I don't know what his 5k PB is but surely he's worth close to 13 flat in this shape.
whats impressive about being paced around by a pacemaker and getting smoked on the last lap? its practically what happens to him in every diamond league just this time there were some poor runners in the field so he didnt finish last

It is impressive because he ran 3:32 and got second at his national championships after running most of the race at 3:29 pace. But you are American, and live within the gold medal only mindset. USA no.1 after all, back to back world war champs! You people are fucķing exhausting.

Impressive win, he is now stacking australian titles. He can make the jump to 3:28.xx in a paced race where he is pushed to the limit. Will be tough though.
