Tonight at 6:24 P.M. EST, for the first time in over 50 YEARS, America is going back to the Moon! Artemis II, among the most powerful rockets ever built, is launching our Brave Astronauts farther into Deep Space than any human has EVER gone. We are WINNING, in Space, on Earth, and everywhere in between — Economically, Militarily, and now, BEYOND THE STARS. Nobody comes close! America doesn’t just compete, we DOMINATE, and the whole World is watching. God bless our incredible Astronauts, God bless NASA, and God bless the Greatest Nation ever to exist, the United States of America!
Yeah but cool the rocket boosters - right now they are orbiting the earth at 44'000 miles above the Earths surface - the moon is 5 and a half times that distance away. They are obviously planning to go, but we still don't know for sure if they will - a lot of things could happen.
It was definitely a spectacular launch - even if we have been putting people in space (and to the ISS) regularly over the last quarter century in ways that aren't too dissimilar to today. It is funny though right - at this point NASA could really tell us anything when you think about it. I've got no way of validating anything they do except taking them at their word.
I will say this, when I saw the "mission control" today on the footage and all the technology clearly there in that room, it did put into context how "miraculous" it was to do this (and on a greater scale because humans weren't just orbiting they were landing on the moon) 56 years ago when we didn't even have the internet and color television was still seen as cutting edge technology. Right? ;)
Artemis II is finally scheduled to launch tonight at 6:24pm EDT. Who plans to watch?
Admittedly a flight around the moon isn't all that impressive, since we've already landed there a half dozen times over 50 years ago, but I'm glad we're finally doing something again for human space exploration outside of low Earth orbit.
Seems like for the past 25 years, we've had big programs announced and then cancelled, announced and cancelled, so I'm glad to see us moving forward with Artemis and the Orion/SLS vehicles.. Good luck and Godspeed to the four astronauts.
I’ve only heard of watch parties for such things but don’t know anyone who does such stupid things. What’s the point of watching it? Is it supposed to fun? Especially when you are hoping for nothing adventurous to happen?
The next U.S. "civil war" (really a war of independence, which the War of Northern Agression was) will be largely caused by persecution on non-PC thoughts.
US doesn't even have the best missiles anymore, not by a long shot. Iran's maneuverable ballistics are higher tech. China and Russia even higher tech, and China has the most missiles.
Re this "moon launch," all these science bros have to admit the tech to fake a moon shot is way more advanced. Any picture or video could be faked pretty easily, and hard to prove fake.
20 years ago we were still shouting into our new cell phones 'can you hear me now?' and we're supposed to believe that the Oval Office had an easy direct connection on a land line to the moon almost 60 years ago???
I wish the mission included some lunar orbits too, but still pretty cool. It's crazy to think about how they were able to do this 50 years ago with less computational power than a digital watch.
They were never able to do this 50 years ago. It was fake back then and fake today.
Nothing gets past the firmament.
Let’s guess. You failed in science and maths in High School and probably never graduated..
