I feel like she would be more competitive there at this point. If she switched coaches and moved up to the 10 on the track, maybe we could see a comeback.
If she's not competitive at 5000m, moving to twice the distance probably isn't going to help. Whatever it was she had a few years ago has disappeared...hopefully temporarily.

she needs to move to the roads
If she’s running poorly in the 5000m, why would it be any better for her on the roads?

All she has to do is dope like her competitors. What makes this board so idiotic is that instead if just admitting that this is a doping sport, the resident board nitwits just keep rationalizing obvious doping peogressions. If you see a runner showed no elite ability all through college suddenly become a world medalist, they are doping. Simple. And everyone on here knows it. They feign denial.
On the direct topic, Tuohy has a lot to lose if on the unlikely chance she gets caught in terms of college cosching. But it pointless to go out there just to allow yourself to get humiliated. Dope on a doping sport or dont compete.

In order to have a "comeback" you need to be "coming back" from something, she hasn't done anything as a pro runner.
She started things way too young Mr. Astro. This has been explained to you many times. Other runners took the clean path of progression. Tuohy is a has been of her own doing.

She’s getting blown apart in a 3k, what makes you think she won’t be lapped in a 10k by Mile 5?
Tuohy’s best race of her career, possibly by far, was her 8:35 3000m, so I don’t believe the 10000m is in her wheelhouse.
This isn’t logically sound. Her best race to date being a 3000m doesn’t preclude the 10,000m ultimately being her best distance. That said my guess is 3000-5000m probably is her best range.
Sadly for her, Touhy’s days of running fast are likely behind her.

Apparently your voice of reason isn’t popular because people on these boards are too naive to admit that the top US runners are all doping. You can’t be lackluster in college, and throughout your pro career then suddenly pushing 30 you’re close to an American record and placing top 10 in the world. Oh yes, she’s clean!! Good God is everyone that stupid?

Why do you follow the sport? If yes, it seems stupid that you do.
Realize that being a top level pro athlete is not for everybody....park it and
get a job.
Really. So she can’t run pro if she still enjoys it? Newsflash- all the current distance runners days are literally numbered. They will all need jobs soon. Unfortunately none of them have any background to have decent careers in anything other than some lame coaching positions
Are you serious? Most, almost all, pro distance runners have a least a 4 year degree and many have a master's. They can move on when they choose and find a good, secure job.
They can also continue to run pro as long as someone wants to pay them and they enjoy it.
Imagine you are filling a position for something and you get 200 applications. Some are straight out of college with 3 year degree. Some others have advanced degrees. Others have been working for 5 to 10 years with nice degrees. Then there are a handful who are 5 to 10 years removed from college and don't have experience.
Can't make a living running track 10ks there are so few of them. She has to run 3,000 indoors and 5,000 outdoors.
In her case, it won't make a difference what she races. Looking over her pro career, I can see only about five races where she may have made any actual race winnings. Not placing in five 5000m races will earn her as much in race winnings as not placing in one 10000m. I bet her career winnings in probably around $1,500 or so after 28 months. She is obviously not getting a penny in appearance fees since only the top get those, so she is essentially living off the base salary of her contract. Adidas is known for its bonuses and reductions based on performance, so she is probably not even getting what she signed for.
If Adidas drops her, she would not be able to continue as a pro unless someone else picks her up. I doubt they will actually drop her, but she will see her contract reduced to a fraction of her original contract. Possibly the only thing saving her is that Adidas does not have many successful females in the US right now. Addy Wiley (#6) and Gabby Jennings (#8) are both ranked top-10 in the world and recent pickup Heather MacLean is #13, but that is about it. They lost Nikki Hiltz a while ago and Whittni Morgan recently switched to Nike. At #85 world (#16 US), Tuohy is actually one of their highest ranked American runners. That might save her from getting dropped but will not save her from being reduced.
Her performances are far out of line with her salary. Runners making one-tenth the salary are beating her with regularity. I can't help but think it might cause animosity toward her from other runners, much like a lot of tennis players were upset when Anna Kournikova was the highest paid player in the world despite never having won a single tournament.
The only races where she may have made money that I see are:
2024 Sunset Tour ("C" level race - 1st place) - $500-$600 range
2024 Boras Folksam Grand Prix in Sweden ("D" level race - 4th place) *very little if anything*
2025 Dr. Sander Invitational ("C" level - 1st place) *not sure if Dr. Sander even pays money*
2025 Portland Track Festival ("C" level - 1st place) - $500-$600 range
2025 Sunset Tour ("B" level - 6th place) *roughly $600*
