Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet
A configuration of Hopp - Story - Jazdzewski - Erickson - Kvatek ought to get them 7:49-7:53 range at state. Theyre balanced but have yet to fill the anchor role with something big (1:51-1:53).

Long before Gabe Jennings pursued the sub-4-minute mile barrier nearly three decades ago in a HS Only 1600m run before a jam packed Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse, Wisconsin, he displayed rhythmic talent as a percussionist capable of sitting in with local bands and performing the iconic drum solo from The Surfaris’ 1963 surf rock classic “Wipe Out.”
The second heat, led by Pongonis, has the talent to run 4:12 or faster whereas the first heat offers an array of 800m and 1600m talent with the realistic talent and possibility to challenge the four minute barrier if the pace is moving.

Looking at the 1600 M heats above...
Heat 2:
This has the firepower to run 4:12 or faster with Will Pongonis (4:14/9:05), Levi Bratt (1:54/4:18), Ben Weston (1:56/4:17/9:05) and Trpy Bartlett (1:55/4:20) leading the way. Aidan Frey (1:57/4:20) is a deserving senior and sophomore Cade Wanie (4:20) is running well lately.
Heat 1:
You can expect big things from returning state champion Grady Lenn (1:53/4:01/8:39), Lucas Tanner (1:51/4:05/8:51), Landon Franke (1:51/4:13) and defending 800m atate champion Jay Tally (1:51/4:14) up front. Can Reed Grotenhuis (4:05/9:04) perform at last year's fitness level? Can Cooper Erickson, Logan Zeise, Elijah Judd and / or Ryan Keller take a grand leap from the 4:15 club and run under 4:10?
Even if the top group went through 800 in 2:03-04, the dazzling 800 meter specialists will make the close of this race super interesting. If the pace is hot, the sub-4 drum chants should be alive and well in the stands.
