People vastly overestimate how much they can deduce about weight gain from photos like this.
Differences in angles, clothes, lighting, contrast, etc etc etc easily add "pounds" (aka 1-2% in the "weight perception" of viewers) in excess of the actual weight differences under discussion.
Jakob won’t be competing as a super elite runner anymore, so the extra few pounds are really just a way to look healthier. He knows that he has scaled the mountain and that he won’t be doing it again, at least not at that height.
Why do the Yanks hate Ingebrigtsen? Is it because he never ran a fast 2 mile race in the local meet v Hicksville college?
You guys need your system to be right don't you. Get 100s of kids, run them into the ground running everything too fast and get 1 athlete capable of making world final every year.
Ingebrigtsens, Bakken et al have found a better way to train but you need Cole to be better don't you. It's just wrong that an athlete doing things "wrong" can win. You don't mind losing to the Africans as they're all doped aren't they? That helps you sleep at night.
There have been entire decades where you were right about the American system, but this is not one of them. Nor was the last. Since 2011, you've had American medalists in the distances all over the place on the track and some even on the roads. Jenny Simpson, Matt Centrowitz, Galen Rupp (all three multiple medals), Leo Manzano, Nick Symmonds, Evan Jager, Emma Coburn, Courtney Frerichs, Donavan Brazier, Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse, Grant Fisher, and the list goes on.

Nice list, but the US has 340 million people.
Norway's per capita success in a country of just 5.6 million shows how much better their approach is.
Call us when the state of Minnesota has as many global top-10 runners as Norway lol.

Ever heard of Garry Bjorklund, Mark Nenow, Dick Beardsley, Bob Kempainen, Steve Holman, Hassan Mead and Ben Blankenship. I could go on.
Norway produced 1 genetic freak at the olympic level. That's it. (Oh, & a 400 medal if you count the 400 in which case the US would blow you out of the water.) You're acting like you're the leaders of the world or something.
You suck at the marathon. Your female mid & distance runners are bad. Jakobs kick isn't going to get any better with each passing year. Who are your upcoming stars?
Yep even if he stopped today, more gold medals than Kerr, Coe, Ovett, Cole and like 5 world records. yes the young man has dome well for himself if he wants to quit at 25............. be another Herb Elliot, kick butt at a young age, make millions although Elliot did not make million and live a nice life. But he'll be back!

1. Karsten Warholm is the current WR holder in the 300/400m hurdles. + OG champ and 3 times WC champ.
2. Filip Ingebrigtsen and Narve Nordås have bronze from OG/WC 1500m (I only list active athletes, and not gold champs or WR setters like Rodal, Kristiansen and Waitz).
3. Yes, contrary to previous years the Norwegian female marathoners aren’t competitive (but neither are the Americans). But for the men the situation is different: A Norwegian just ran faster than the American National record (in his debut).
4. Upcoming stars: Håkon Moe Berg did 3.30.28 a couple of months after his 19 birthday. Can’t recall any American teenager that good in the 1500m. And Sondre Guttormsen is currently third in the world in the pole vault, only one cm below the US National record (Lightfoot). + for the women: Henriette Jæger is number one in the world in the indoor 400m 2026 for now… + the mentioned 2.04.24 marathon guy.
Name a Norwegian track athlete that would make a US team not named Jakob Ingebritsen/Karston Warlholm.
Henriette Jæger (currently ranked 5 in the world, indoors world leader), Awet Kibrab ( NR 2.04.24 some months ago) and maybe Narve Nordås ( WC bronze, OG 7 th, 3.29.47 pb) and Håkon Moe Berg (teenager in progress; 3.30.28 solo last 500m last year)
