DeLeon should have won. He ran wide nearly the entire time. No idea why he did that but it cost him the win and the HSR.
He was never really out of lane 1 and at those speeds indoor running in the outside edge of lane 1 can actually be faster sometimes. Also he is a bit taller which may contribute to the outer edge of the lane being slightly faster even though its further distance.
I just watched it again. He is in Lane 2 for at least half the race. Lost by a .01 sec.
Easier to get away with it at long distances but at sprint speeds you are going to need almost perfect efficiency to break through to the edge of whats possible.
