Sound running never disappoints. They always put together great fields. Every race has something to watch. 7:40 is relegated to the slow heat of the 3000.
They need to move Napoleon to the fast heat of the 3000m. Are Henes and Tuohy acting as pacers? Neither of them even close to the rest of the field. Henes just ran 9:00 at Millrose and Tuohy is about the same caliber. They can probably hold the field's pace for 1600m max.
I think seed times should have a limit of maybe two years. Lifetime best means nothing; "what have you done for me lately" should be the deciding factor unless a runner has a time from another race distance that indicates they can run faster.
Its totally beyond me how they managed to assemble such a stacked field in Winston Salem of all places.
JDL is nice, but not that nice. I haven't been there since they banked it, but even still, I could think of a million other places that would play better host to a competition of this caliber.

I just noticed that although the Sound Invite Link brought me here, this page refers to the event of this weekend - though the schedule seems consistent with the event of the 14th so stay tuned.....and ignore that link above for now - sorry

It's pretty simple, and it's the same reason they got great fields for the flat track in the 2010s: they're offering a bunch of prize money. If you're an American athlete and want to race between Millrose and USAs, you can either run for free at BU or another college meet, fly to Europe, or stay in the US and get paid to run in Winston-Salem (I don't have specifics, but my understanding is the prize $$$ is very good).
Plus it's a professionally organized meet that wants to cater towards elite athletes. Makes sense to me.
