Y’all quit making excuses for the guy. He sucked on his opening day and I’m sure that wasn’t the plan and I’m sure he knows it. He ran about 4 seconds slower than what he’s opened up in the 600 in the past. Doesn’t mean anything (yet), but quit pretending like him and Smith have some master plan that would only allow him to run 1:17 for some greater buildup. Dude had to be looking at least running a 1:14.
And nobody is counting DB out. Nobody. But he sucked yesterday. Embarrassing. Looking forward to seeing him right that.

Exactly. Not sure why he'd fly across the country to a rabbited race if his goal was 1:17.
He could have stayed in Flagstaff and got his butt kicked by Colin Sahlman if he was only aiming for 1:17.
Brazier and a couple of other really talented runners ran mediocre times. I was disappointed with the race, but I don't read anything into it. This is equivalent to around a 1:46 800, btw.
LMAO a 1:17 does NOT convert to 1:46. What are you smoking?

Despite everyone's attempt here to gaslight us, I guarantee Brazier himself was very disappointed in this race. He looked like **** right from the gun.
That was pretty embarrassing. Does he even train speed anymore with Mike Smith?
I would argue the race was so slow because one of the non factor athletes got out to the lead first. On top of that the pacer (why don’t need one in a 6) took it out in 22 then literally ran a 15. Once it bunched and he didn’t just go by it’s a wrap. 6-8-1k are rhythm races and sometimes when you aren’t in rhythm early you just won’t have a gear change.
We all Saw DB close in 24 to run 1:44 in 2020 at milrose BUT he was hanging in the back passing people vs being bunched up and stuck.

it actually does, if you're not a high school 400 meter runner.

If Brazier wanted to get in the lead, he would have. He purposely let someone else lead.
They should have gone out in 23, and in that case the rabbit was perfect at 22.7 (as the person behind the rabbit would have been 23).
It wasn’t just brazier that ran poorly, the whole race was just slow. Winning time was like a second slower than the US high school record. Brazier has historically been great at front running fast races, and a race like this was not conducive to him running well. Hoppel was slow af too, there’s no reason a 1:41 guy should ever run a 1:17 600. It was just a lame race all around.
