this is awesome. I thought the exact same thing during the race.
was going to say that Kessler is still maturing and getting physically to his adult body.
he looked wirey and springy, with the ability to pounce. Something that seems to be a little bit new with his form. Maybe it's just more effortless looking now. Can you imagine if he gets another level up in the next 3 years, just with full body maturation?
In my opinion the pacemaker, Davis Bove, 25, former Cal Poly, 1:50/3:35/3:56/13:48 had the best form in that race, surpassing Kessler, even. Perfect form, if there ever was such a thing.
Compare Bove's form with E. Holt who's a great runner, but ungainly. How much does Holts form handicap him? - well that's another discussion for another time.
in Eric Holts defense, you do the best with what God gave you. He's naturally top heavy, big boned, and stocky so it makes sense he uses his entire body to help push himself along, which is why he looks like he's swimming when he runs.
That is a filthy lie. You take your natural running form and turn it into EFFECTIVE running form.
The blessed are those whose natural running form IS their effective running form.
There is a reason Alberto Saladbar targeted Galen Rupp at an early age.
There is a reason Nick Willis targeted Hobbs Kessler at an early age.
There is a reason No One targeted Eric Holt at an early age.
I know its touche, but he clearly did some Josh Kerr diet stuff. I also think he stop rock climbing always thought his back muscles were larger than other competitors.
Kerr lost weight, Hobbs added weight. Hobbs also fuels way more if you listen to podcasts and such. Hobbs said "Its better to be heavier and strong than light and weak"
Hobb’s form has always been incredible. His background in climbing means his core and lower back strength will be on point . This allows him to look so effortless. The mullet is brutal however. He had a rough 2025 compared to his expectations…looks ready to roll this year.
Yeah was there in person, Hobbs is ripped and thin reminds me of a peak Rizenhein but obviously Hobbs is taller. Dude is lean. Maybe weighs 140? Fisher has more muscle than Hobbs.
Yeah I'm curious on how his strength routine has changed and how much heavier he is. Looks like at least a couple pounds. Good strength for mid-distance if it's in the right place.
Hard to tell with the hair, but his face seems more filled out as well. I guess it could be age related - he is 22 so pretty old to still be "maturing" but sometimes faces are the last to stop "aging".
Probably his hormones, new regime.
ya, in hobbs case, and many others, we are not talking illegal peds, or at least not me here, there is a revolution in nutraceuticals, hacks, sprope training stimulus, i hate the term hack, which is simple legit applicable science. hobbs is a legit talent without anything.

It sounds to me like you don’t know what the hell youre talking about.

He’s starting to look like a man instead of a kid.
Easy to forget since he went pro so young and has been competing as a pro for several years but he’s only 22 years old.

You would never "target" someone due to form. People target you because you're a 17y/o and run a sub 4 mile (for one example). Too many champions with lots of different "forms" to say one was is the best form. Don't tell me Hocker, Naguse, and Hobbs look the same? Does Ellie Purrier and Jenny Simpson look anything alike at all? Timothy Cheruiyot, Helen Obiri? But they all get it done. They are efficient but most importantly crazy talented. Some just look prettier doing it- Kipyegon, Hobbs, Rudisha, and of course the king of artistry and talent imo-- Kipchoge.
