although theoretically could they sign up and then compete clean?? given their abilities they still could win, and they could earn money while banned training as always. yes it would be a PR hit, but the economics still might work.
surely the authorities couldn't penalise them for doing a track meet that's not sanctioned??
Not a bad point. Houlihan raced a public, official, non USATF-certified half marathon, and won prize money during her doping ban, so we know it's possible.
However, Coe threatened all Enhanced Games participants with drastic consequences, which may or may not be a bluff.
Plus it appears that all participants have to follow the docs orders 😀

Any “enhanced games” participant should be banned for life from real track and field.
I don't disagree, but it's not entirely clear that UK Athletics prompted the article's writing. The quotes are front & center. There is also information on Prescod & the Enhanced Games. Seems like the article was going to be written. I guess they could have said no comment. I think condemning the games is a fine choice. What kind of message does it send that this guy's signing up? That maybe he's always been a doper? That UK Athletics condones guys like this competing? So they're distancing themselves & saying the event is pointless. It's kind of what you have to do.
This long response only raises EG’s profile, to seem like something legacy federations are scared of.
If legacy track/swimming/etc allowed elite athletes like Prescod and Proud to make a good living, commensurate to their elite achievements, EG wouldn’t be such a draw. But UKA etc don’t see the writing on the wall and won’t change a thing.

I suppose I'm struggling to believe that these games will really take place on any kind of scale (e.g. with a decent number of decent quality entrants in a decent number of events, with decent spectator numbers, decent timekeeping etc, & decent quality online screening) nearly as early as May 26.
In terms of the drugs themselves, obviously the benefits of stimulants (e.g. ephedrine etc) are pretty much instantaneous, but EPO & blood- boosting types take longer, and the peak benefits of building muscle using steroids/HGH type much, much longer... how could they still be signing sprinters up only now?
