Gotta remember some teams don’t race down in Portland every week. Context of where kids ran their times matter.
Boise has 9:08 at sea level, 9:18 in Boise, 4:21 in Boise and a sub 10 freshman.
Eagle has 9:22, 9:41, 9:45 (freshman), 9:47, 9:58, all in Boise.
The 4:21 Boise boy is probably a 9:30 3200m. If they were at sea level every week and you had a line up of 9:08, 9:10, 9:20, 9:48 and then a bunch of 4:35-4:37 boys they would end up on the list up above.
Same with Eagle. The 9:47 boy had some stuff going on this spring and understandably didn't race well, but he ran that as a sophomore. A team with 9:12, 9:30, 9:35, 9:37, 9:47, 9:51 would also be on that list, especially with their 2nd, 4th, 5th fastest times being sophomore year times and their 3rd being a freshman.
Rocky has really solid pieces heading into next year as well. 9:41, 9:49, a 4:28 freshman, a boy that ran 9:53 as a freshman that had a rough sophomore spring, and a boy that might return that was their 2nd or 3rd for most of the fall. All of Rocky's times were also run in Idaho.
If Mead is going to get mentioned with a 9:46 average then the teams with better averages probably should, too. Especially when 2-5 on those teams are much better.
