this is actually a pretty standard combo for endurance athletes. The steroids aren't used to bulk up, but for recovery and maintenance of lean muscle when body fat % is very low.

Yes. But usually, the athlete screws up the dosage of only of their drugs. So you see many banned for steroids, and many banned for EPO, but only very few for both.
Yeah I'm not convinced it's a track athlete. This isn't track language: "In one case, an elite level athlete, who competed at Olympic qualifier and international events in the United States, admitted to taking steroids and EPO yet was permitted to continue competing all the way up to retirement". which could mean it's a different sport or that WADA just doesn't know track language.
I would think a swimmer. China recently had a big scandal were many swimmers also where they were allow to still compete.
Another interesting tidbit is the reuters story on this was withdrawn because the other of the story ended up helping the WADA media person get a press pass to the Masters Gold tournament (Reuters stands by the accuracy of the report and the WADA press release is still out there)
see this: PARIS, Aug 7 (Reuters) - This story was withdrawn on October 2, 2024. While Reuters stands by the accuracy of the reporting, a post-publication investigation determined that Reuters standards for newsgathering were not met, specifically as they pertain to avoiding the appearance of bias in our sourcing.
9 track and field athletes in last decade have "name removed" testing positive for substances including Testosterone and Clenbuterol.
Stories like this, Bracy getting such a short ban despite doping and tampering, AIU having to appeal to get Knighton banned... makes it all hard to trust USADA.
