Hi Nick, great stuff.
Name a couple of your running hacks.
Some of my hacks: I run to and from the office every day. When I'm doing that---unless it's on days when I'm doing workouts---I listen to work-related podcasts or audiobooks. Sometimes, though not that often, I do phone calls. It's a much more efficient use of that time, I think, than getting on the subway. I keep several sets of clothes in the office and bring them to the drycleaner around the corner. I alternate lots of different pairs of shoes and don't really worry about which pair I'm wearing. My general view is that every different kind of shoe stresses the body in a slightly different way and it's better to spread it around. When I run a workout, during the week at least, I'll make it part of the commute. For example, I'll run to the office via the Williamsburg Bridge, which creates a route with a 5k that involves just a couple of cuts through traffic, so I have a clear tempo workout I can do. My most important hack is that I never worry about getting the conditions right for a run: I run when I'm hungry, dehydrated, and exhausted; I run when it's hot, when it's cold, and when it's pouring rain. This not only helps me fit it into the day, it also creates different training stimuli and helps me in races. I also often run to do errands, and, when my kids have soccer, I run during their practices and warmups. The whole goal of my training is to get the maximum amount in with the minimum amount of time committed.
