I ran in h.s. and college. My PRs from 800m to 8,000m were set in college. In my 30s, I went after other pb's in the half marathon and full marathon. My PRs in the half and full are relatively very weak compared to my college PBs.
Now I'm in my late forties and honestly I can barely run. I just kind of shuffle along at 12 minute mile pace. It is painful.
Echo this post.
PRs in distances up to the 10,000 are probably set in college for most serious runners, with the exception being primarily those that carry on in a training group that gets the best out of them.
Then a lot of those who carry training seriously set PRs in distances they couldn't focus on while in college (half marathon, marathon, and maybe even ultras).
Then, with 14+ years behind you (around ages 14 to 28), it is probably getting pretty hard to run a PR.
But nothing is absolute, and kudos to those that PR later in life.
