There was no threatening, they simply contacted them about misinformation on their platforms. The election being stolen and vaccines being mind control or secretly super deadly are not right wing political points, they are just misinformation. You're free to disagree that those things should be removed, or that the government should talk to Twitter about content, but Twitter was not threatened by the head of the FCC or FTC. If Twitter complied, it was because they agreed that the content was harmful and untrue. ABC, however, was directly threatened, and specifically about Jimmy Kimmel, about whom, right after Colbert's cancellation, Trump said, "Kimmel's next." Fast forward a few weeks and, voila, Kimmel was next. And now Trump has said that leaves Jimmy and Seth, and has told their employers to "do the right thing", or words to that effect.
