Sensational performance by Sydney! Haters are running out of reasons to hate her.
They said she didn't race enough. She has raced regularly the past two years.
They said she didn't have personality. She has shown plenty.
They didn't respect her dominance in the hurdles because they said it was a weak event, and they claimed she was ducking stronger competition in the flat. She just beat the best in the flat and became the second-fastest woman ever.
Now the only thing haters have to cling to is accusing her of doping. But that just comes with the territory of being a great performer (let's be honest, even if she wasn't with Kersee, people would still be accusing her).
Love her or hate her, Sydney is now firmly in the female track GOAT conversation.
According to the Stasi archives, Koch took steroids - there's not much of a "doubt" about it. Her 47.60 does have a what if - what could she have run that day from a better lane than 2?
According to athletes associated with Bobby Kersee, he's been in and around drugs his whole life and supposedly cant coach a non-drugged athlete.
See why we either doubt both or believe both?
When SML breaks the WR and it stands for the next 40 years, future generations will ask the same questions you're asking of Koch.
She was maybe the best young talent we’ve ever seen in the long sprints, but even with a better track, better lane, and better shoes she still can’t get the record of someone who looked like she had 300 ng/dl test, but yeah they’re totally equally suspicious

"Hate" is such an overused expression, and I believe dangerously so. Please substantiate your charges of hatred. Yes, Sydney had some critics and naysayers, but are there people who hate her?

If you were the most talented athlete ever, and racing completely clean, why would you choose to be coached by a coach with a record of doping all his athletes?
You have the intellectual ability of a house plant if you can't discern facts between unique circumstances. I weep for your ability to function in a professional environment where deductive reasoning is required for success. But as the saying goes, the world needs ditch diggers too.

In the distance events? I still have faith in Young, Fisher, and Hocker in the men's 5 and Andrews & Houlihan in the women's 5.
I am not counting Napolean's 9th place in the steeple as a poor outing. She's also only 20 and is the future of the event for women in the US.
Good luck with that. I think fair to say it has been a poor outing.
No medals in 10k (M/W), 1500m (M/W), 800m (M), 400m (M), SC (M/W).
No US men in 800m final at all.
Only 1 US man in 1500m final, and here the US were supposed to have the best depth out of any country.
That's fair.
My "in the distance events?" remark had more to do with Syd's performance in the 400 has nothing to do with the US's performance in the distance events. I was questioning the person that asked if her performance erased the poor outing in the distance events.
Yes, the US has been poor in the distance events but I'll still hold out hope for the 5000. I think I'm most disappointed about Brazier not making it. I was really pulling for him since he had a bad injury and has made a great comeback. Also, if Nuguse had done what he needed to do to get the the WCs I believe he would have thrived and Hocker, had he not had the DQ, would have also competed well in the 1500 final. Can't look at would have & should have, though. It is what it is.
Sydney will win the hurdles and flat in 2028 and become the greatest track athlete of all time - male or female
That is a really hard double when considering the rounds and probable relay duty. If she were to attempt it she would need to be taken out of the relay pool. I don't think it's doable.

You're right, hate is an overused expression. There are plenty who dislike her, though. You can see that in this thread.
