John Ogdon.
Likely the most preternaturally talented pianist of modern times.
Sad life though.

I saw a video of Oscar Peterson and was really impressed. Not sure how to rank him in overal greatness.
He ranks very highly.
Wait, is Greg still alive? How’s he doing?

Do you know of any pianists greater than Chopin. Imo nobody even comes close. Who do you consider the greatest?
Johnny Johnson.

Liberace
Also saw a video with Martha Argerich, still playing in her '70s.
I'm not a fan of "who is the greatest" questions when there are so many.
Peterson is greatly respected in the jazz world.
I'd never heard of Ogdon. Very fine composer and pianist. Thank you so much for the suggestion.
Beethoven was undefeated in piano battles of his time, no joke, and Liszt was a virtuoso who composed pieces that require a virtuoso to play them. The third great one of the 19th century was probably Clara Schumann. More recently, there are figures like Horowitz, Lang Lang, and my personal favorite from the jazz and classical worlds, Keith Jarrett.

My understanding of the history is that Franz Liszt was basically like the Eddie Van Halen of the piano, a total rock star who would pack in audiences to hear his amazing technical ability and talent.
Was Chopin an accomplished performer or just a great composer for the piano? I don't know.
I also really like Debussy, but I doubt anyone serious in the piano world would put him on top. I just really find the music to be pleasant.
Who doesn't love de bussy!
Bill Evans
Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies, particularly No. 2, are absolutely incredible. However, Frédéric Chopin’s works (nocturnes, waltzes, mazurkas, and ballads) really make him the GOAT.

No, Chopin definitely has the greatest pianist.
Rowlf. No doubt.
No 4 in E minor, Op 28 wrote:
Not the greatest at anything.
