Djokovic is on to quarterfinal of French after another straight set win ( he has not dropped sets). It’s incredible that he’s able to this at an age of 38 against player 10-20 years younger than him.
It was his 100th win at French-second only to Rafael Nadal (who is also 38 but retired).
I don’t think he has much chance against Zverev but you never know with Djokovic. If he win it will be another incredible feat by GOAT.
As long as you understand that IF he does not WIN the entire championship, then he has long COVID. It doesn’t matter how many ranked, young opponents he beats on the way there in grueling, long matches. It does not matter if he gets to the final but still loses in a five set tiebreak against a world ranked, top five, twenty-something year old player. Literally, he either wins as one of only two over 35-year olds in the top 50 or he definitely has long Covid🤡 😂.
I have a lot of respect for what he has done. By the time you reach your late 30s, after a couple of decades of world-class athleticism, you will fall apart unless you’re meticulous about taking care of your body. Clearly he has done that, and is reaping the rewards.

He is astounding. He made 100th win at RG and 19 quarterfinal at RG. No other has 19 at one Grand Slam. He has records every time he goes on court.
LeBron. Brady. Both examples of aging with grace and maintaining success.
Slamming into a wall 18 months ago as world #1 with an unexplained “illness” and barely winning anything since. Less impressive. Possibly embarrassing.

This is letsrun, if he were a runner what would people give for an answer?
Because he's one of the greatest athletes of all time, and hasn't lost enough athleticism for lesser players to close the gap.
Nadal and Federer were the same way. Fed was about the same age Djokovic is now when he was still good enough to choke match points against the 32 year old version of Djokovic at Wimbledon in 2019 (and actually scored more points across the 5 sets).
Another example is Gael Monfils - he's arguably still a top 3 mover on the tour and he's also 38.
Part of this is down to the improvement in surgical techniques allowing once career ruining injuries to be somewhat navigable. The next couple of decades are going to be interesting as medical and rehab techniques allow further improvement in this department.

I think you no understand individual sport. In team sport other players help you. In sport like tennis or athletics it is just you. No one to help.
Tennis tax body like no other. Tennis broke Nadal into injuries. He retired because of injuries too much. Tennis not kind to body. Djokovic start to have injuries. Still make finals, semi in grand slam and win Olympics.

I say Monfils earlier in thread. He is fantastic 38 years. Federer and Nadal all greats too. It was sad to see how Rafa fall. Great at 35 and then nothing. Federer better age than Nadal. Djokovic oldest world number at at age 37. Incredible.

You are correct sir. Beyond age 35, it’s almost an impossible ask.
Btw, even with all the performance enhancing drugs available to a Jannik Sinner (wonder why I called him out) and a Novak Djokovic alike, do you realize there is only one 40-year old in the world’s top 150, and he lost in the first round to a no name? Do you think Djokovic will still be playing and ranked at age 40? I don’t but I’m also not ruling it out.

In basketball and football you get benched if you aren’t good enough at your position. Go watch late career Brady or Bron now and tell me others are covering for him.
They aged well. Our guy Chokervic has fallen off a cliff. I have my explanations but people have a coronary when this topic comes up, lol, one of them is already in here fuming and I haven’t even said anything yet.
I think Djokovic not win against Zverev. He is very good player.
And the crushing streak of no wins will continue? I hope he can make it farther, but I agree, he’s been a different player since 2023. Extremely vulnerable.
