For a track fan, this is awesome. Definitely need to continue adding in storytelling like Sprint and Drive to Survive. But I am thrilled seeing any type of racing. Especially guys in off events. Going to show a bit more into these athletes and I can’t wait.

maybe they should have ran some college races directly beforehand to at least fill the stands

Let's be real, Jamaicans care about sprints, not track and field. And most top sprinters are not there, including top Jamaicans. Having lived in Miami, I have serious doubts the stands are going to look much different there...

The thing about the TV time that people are missing, is it's not actually 9 hours of racing and lots of commercials.
The broadcast is 9 hours, but the racing all takes place within a 100 minute window each day.
Its still not exactly fast paced, but 8 track races in 100 minutes is really not that commercial centered once you introduce runners like literally every meet ever does.

It wouldn't be a track meet if I didn't complain about the broadcast but I was stunned by the intro (not in a good way). I thought with $30 million behind it they'd have something amazing. What? I don't know. But certainly not more of the same old same old.
I couldn't believe they started with "this is kingston" just like every track meet does - focuses on the location. USA indoors in N YC. I thought they'd have something big about the series.
Athlos's opening visuals were so much better. Now AThlos had a huge advantage as it was at night and the stadium in NYC is tiny compared to Kingston. If Athlos was held in Jamaica, the crowd would also have looked tiny but there is no denying one couldn't but laugh when John Anderson said, "The fans are starting to pour in" and the stadium was totally empty.

I'm thinking if people aren't interested and won't pay to see the Slam athletes they probably wouldn't be interested in slower races.
