ukraine is legally independent. there is a border that got crossed. if you are pro-borders you should have the dem position.

trump just likes to play games. trump hates the EU and NATO for whatever reason. trump has been trying to use european defense budgets as an excuse to exit NATO. but when they did 2% on defense in their budgets he moves the goalposts to 5%.

setting aside i think it would have been awful for zelensky to give up mineral rights in perpetuity for aid that's supposed to be a gift, if ukraine even considered it, the reason it didn't get done friday is because russia has made zero concessions and the US no commitments. at which point zelensky tries to commit the US to something, anything, we refuse.

at which point it's just another "Greenland." i want your mines and i can't promise peace or security or anything for them. at which point, go jump in a lake.
