This might be an unpopular opinion but The Ten was one of my absolute favourite races last year. Seeing about 25 world class athletes in the field all chasing sub 27 was just insane.
If you are local or not to distant, it is well worth going to...
This isn't the complete list, there will be more to come. Emily Infeld has said she will run and Allie O said in her last video that she's running a 10K on the track as her next race, so I assume this is the 10K she is talking about, it would be a huge dodge to run a 10K other than this one.
It was alluded to earlier but there’s no reason to think Ostrander would be in the fast section when she’s never matched any of the above 5k or 10k times.
I'm kind of surprised Nico isn't running this. I guess he already has the standard, but there are just so few opportunities to run a fast 10K I am surprised he doesn't want to take a stab at lowering his PR.
It's tough to go back to a race that was so perfect and try to replicate that. The last thing you want is to put him in a situation where he has to compare himself to how amazing he was last year. I could see them taking a year off. He doesn't seem to be in bad shape, but based on his last races he seems to be working on some shorter stuff.
If you think Ky Robinson can do it - then I think Dylan Jacobs can too. I think he is a bit underrated. BU 5K this weekend will teach us a lot about his fitness. I think he will break 13.
Other than maybe Hailu who has a 29:55 pr thus may take off on her own, all the top women who feel they have a chance to quality for Tokyo will be targeting the Q.
Thus, there will be pacers & wavelights set for 30:20.
Kelati, Cranny, Valby, Ryan, Donaghu, probably a few others will comprise the "Tokyo or bust" standard-chasing group.
So, to rephrase the question posed in the prior post: for this cadre above, over/under 30:20?
If the Q was 30:40 like last year, probably under for all of them.
But, at 30:20?
Yes for Hailu. Yes for Cranny presuming perfect health & fitness. Same for Kelati & Ryan.
However, only a big maybe for Valby. Knocking 30 seconds off your already-collegiate-record pr in less than a year's time is a huge ask. We all know Parker will give it a go for as long as she can, but those last couple ks will be telling. Even if she does blow up, fully expect a sub-30:50 pr.
Then, likely no for Donaghu & others who will, essentially, be swinging for the fences.
Note: AR is 30:03.82 by Alicia Monson from 2023's The TEN. If Cranny and/or Kelati are feelin' it the night of March 29th, could see them really take off the last 2-3 ks and go after the record.
I’m praying that Sir Charles Hicks pulls off a miracle but it’s very unlikely. Hopefully he can get a solid time that puts him in a position to qualify via rankings at least.
Seeing collegiate pull up in top form from their conference meets/NCAA and chase fast times vs the pros has probably been one of my favorite parts of the ten as of recent. Would love to see guys like Abdalla, Schubert, and Clinger get in on the action. Super curious how close some of those guys could get to sub 27.

zero chance. not done anything decent in years
Wouldn’t help to have the ranking UK athletics doesn’t use them
Solid field on both sides. Always wish to see Nico, but I get. Hoping to see Venters after her Houston half performance as well. That being said…
For the women I’m looking forward to seeing the results from Cranny as she has been running well at the shorter distances the last couple years. Valby of course 30:50 CR and a recent 8:34 PR. Kelati with an AR half at Houston and Taylor Roe after her Houston half performance.
Men: if racing I have to say Lobalu, Wildschutt and Samuel.
Who I think has a shot of stars aligned are: Blanks, Ky Robinson, Dever and Dylan Jacobs. Jacob’s is going to have lock in completely for it.
Definitely interested to see what Drew Hunter will produce after his OT performance last year.
