Merrick is really putting in the elliptical training. He says that he is shooting for 8:50 at his upcoming meet. That would be incredible.
Almost 8 hours a week. Multiple sessions with intervals on it, I wonder how well that keeps running fitness. Seems he never took a break after State despite a stress fracture, went straight to XT. Looks like he started treadmill running again.

Probably kept fitness pretty well, also still not running much looks like 10 minutes a time and just easy. Been long enough I’m not surprised the running has started. Rumor I heard is he was in boot when he wasn’t on elliptical

But I would say he had almost a 10 week break from running impact! So his whole body should be ready.
If that diagnosis is correct he is getting questionable guidance. He was still running the first week of Nov. Too bad, he is fun to watch. The goal shouldn't be 8:50 at some indoor race. It should be getting healthy for outdoor and CU.
Lots can happen and always does but I would pick Nauman to sweep 3200-800-1600. 8:47-1:50-4:05 or something phenomenal like that.
If Merrick is healthy enough to place 2nd in the 3200, like you have him, then I would sub him in at 5th in the 1600 for Wolfe. He’s not a miler but he ran what, 4:14 as a freshman? Wolfe is a solid pick though and with his 1:54 speed and a fine XC season, could be pushing close to 4:10 this year. Moustafa Tiea I think is the next most likely to place top-5 in the mile after those 6, and should probably be ranked 2nd in the 800.
I agree with the poster who called Ferebee to win the 1500 by 5 seconds. Wedemeyer is more 800/1500-specific, yeah, and has the faster PR (4:30.88 to 4:31.48), but Ferebee is next level now and will probably go low-4:20s and just run away from everyone.
Last note for now is I think you’re overlooking Charlee Gall and Lili Denton. I would pick both over Beason and Beasley for sure.
Merrick still cross training and still predicting 8:50. Anania skipped his race this week while Decker had a nice double. Maybe he will do what Merrick did last year as a sophomore.

Seems like he is doing more volume than he was during XC, despite still being on the elliptical/short runs now he is accumulating over 9hours of training a week. If he runs under 8:50 in the full 2 mile at Misfits like he has claimed he’s capable of, or even under 9, I predict he will go under 8:40/4:02 at drake, and become one of the few juniors to ever break 4. If he can figure out how to stay healthy past state he is very dangerous, and him and Nauman will make waves on the national level, much like Simeon and Burns did.

Big question for misfits is how well did elliptical keep him in shape?
