Dailey doesnt run NXN. she is basically the Footlocker home coming queen with her being so close to the location and now with her signing a sponsorship deal with Hoka. Rahmer clearly had a dip in performance this year after her incredible run as an 8th grader. hopefully she will be back next year.
the whole concept of trying to pick the top ten finishers for a high school race a year from now is pretty high level speculation in my opinion and why it generally ends up being more an exercise in ranking the current runners based on this year more than anything else. in the end there will be several kids in the top ten we arent even considering right now. no one would have considered Ferebee or Beshears or Miller or Sirois last year because they hadnt truly exploded onto the scene yet. so who will be those kids who no one has heard of in 2024 but will have breakout performances in the 2025 season? what runner who finished like 39th in their NXR race this year will develop faster than anyone thought and emerge next year as a real contender on a national scale? thats always the fun question. we will probably know a little more after the end of track season but even then we'll miss a few...
Wouldn’t be surprising if Dailey focuses on Footlocker because her parents ran it

While it's true that Dailey's parents ran Foot Locker, the main reason that Dailey runs Foot Locker is because it's her home course and all her friends can go and watch her run.
Johnston IA only got like 20th but I think they return their entire top 7.
They could challenge for a top 10 if things go well for them.
I think Pella IA can beat Johnston at NXR. Pella would have autoqualified this year, but their #2 runner (Brenneman) was injured and had an off race at NXR. Pella is only graduating one person. They have Ferebee who can challenge for an NXN title.
According to Milesplit, Wayzata, Pella, and Johnston return the 7th, 9th and 11th fastest group of 5k times respectively. Shows that this region has improved a lot on the girls side since 2023 when the 2 Heartland girls teams got last at NXN.
Mountain Vista has the deepest JV in the nation and they have a great coach so they’ll do fine. They have 2 girls who raced at NXN last year and is on JV this year, and one of them is returning next year. Plus, they have some young talent coming up.
I know times aren’t super meaningful, but based on 5K PRs on Milesplit, Mountain Vista returns the 3rd fastest group in the nation
Their coach quit. Dalby is not coaching.
If Mountain Vista doesn’t end up in the top 4 in the SW because of this, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chaparral takes 4th in the SW. They took 5th this year and only loses only 1 senior

Well, they got to see her crap out two years in a row. Maybe third time's a charm?

What are you talking about? Dailey ran well her freshman and sophomore years at Foot Locker.
She's got great race instincts. Not about being smarter. She needs to keep that competitiveness. Her and Sirois are the only underclassmen in the top 20 and she ran the second fastest km according to the splits only behind Jane from 2-4km and only one under 3:30/km for that 3rd k with the hill. She's beat everyone in the field on the track and can race XC, so just gotta see how 2025 goes.
If Leachman is fit, I've got her capable of defending with Ritzenhein. Rodriguez, etc., will all be in the mix again as she's beat them on the track and can race side by side as a younger runner.
Why do people keep making things up about Sophia Rodriguez? No, Rodriguez has NOT beat everyone in the field on the track. Stop making things up.
Looking at results, she beat Ritz at 2023 Nike Indoors and Leachman at 2023 Nike Outdoors so fair comment. Hasn’t beat Hedengren but she wouldn’t be a returner.
Boise loses 0 of their top 7. Timberline loses their 3 and 7. Rocky Mountain is very depleted but should be pretty easily the 3rd best team in Idaho and I bet they will end up being top 5 at NXR. The NW is weak for girls teams so no at larges will be had.

End of year rankings out. Only beef is I would not have rated Engelhardt and Macchia so highly.
Jane Hedengren Leaves No Doubt With Dominant NXN Victory Over Deep National Field; Elizabeth Leachman Wins Second Foot Locker Title To Secure No. 2By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Jane Hedengren's 40-second victory at Nike Cros...
Her only poor races have been at national meets and she has the Woodward Park record, which is like Detweiler, Holmdel, Bowdoin etc for California. Same course as German Fernandez holds legendary boys record. For Sadie she's ahead of Lane, Baxter, Stamps, Trotter, Hasay, Bei etc, who all won national titles.
She also is rare 4 time All-American in xc.
2021 Foot Locker 15th
2022 Foot Locker 10th
2023 NXN 26th
2024 NXN 11th
and she qualified for NXN all 4 years, just choosing FL first two seasons.
They are giving Sadie credit for the CA season. Woodbridge, record at Clovis-Woodward Park, 3rd State title.
Macchia like Leachman was just getting into form, and found enough for a good finish there at FL. She gets credit for that, plus I'm guessing her USA U20 running helps too.
