Which will land him still well behind El G’s accolades.
No, he would actually be ahead of El Guerrouj if he did all this. 2x olympic champion, 4x world champion world record holder from mile - 5k. The chances of this happening though are REALLY slim though. Snowflakes probably made this as a troll thread
He is focused on peaking for when it counts, the world indoor and outdoor championships. He can run around 7:58 indoors (1325 IAAF Points), and Lievin is hosting a 2 miles indoors. It's the perfect opportunity for him.
I don’t see why Jakob would run any slower in a two miles indoors than outdoors. -I get it that the bends (indoors) slow you in the 200/400/800m and even in the 1500m. But hardly in a 3000/two miles/5000m that even can be wind and sun shielded indoors….
The only question is if he cares enough about the record to try and show up in 7:54 shape (or better) for indoors... does he?
I disagree with all you posters that think that Jakob can win paced DLs, but not unpaced champs, because:
1. Jakob exposes himself far more in paced races, because he overtakes the lead when the pacers are finished. And the competitors behind him get drafted in a strung out field all the way. Therefore Jakob nearly got beaten by Nuguse in the 3.43 mile, and Kejelcha in the 7.23 3000m..!
2. In a champ however Jakob doesn’t have to go out fast to hit the pacers back. -He can then easier modulate his pace as it suits his talent without fighting, and take the lead f.x after being in the pack the first lap in 56.5. Him slowly hitting the lead will often be a disadvantage to his competitors who would have to fight for his back, and he is so much better than the next guys (maybe as much as 2 sec) that the draft they have to fight for isn’t enough of an advantage. But Jakob seems extremely vulnerable to too fast openings, and too much fluctuations in the pace -have to get those things under control…
