What else does he have to prove?
That he can win more than 1 race at the global level. Nice job listing his stats vs Americans though.
He ran a 3:267 with a 39 last 300 that already makes him an all time great miler.
Jakob only won because Cheruiyot ran directly in to Nuguse and almost knocked him off his feet. What was that? Should be a DQ.

You ain't from 'round here, is ya.
Cole Hocker's sprint was not there today.
Mean nothing? Three of the top 5 at the Olympics came from the US. 2 of last 3 Olympic Gold medals came from the US. I think it matters plenty.

NCAA and US trials means absolutely nothing on the global stage
US trials absolutely mean something on the world stage. The US is the most successful country in athletics and generally has great strength in depth.
It's obviously nothing compared to the worlds or Olympics but as Brit this reminds me of people saying the Commonwealths and Europeans mean nothing. They're all significant to varying degrees.

Also, four of the last six NCAA champs are Kerr, Hoare, Nuguse, and Hocker. Seems like a pretty solid indicator of future success.
Jakob holding everyone off over 450 was brilliant

He is our best 1500m runner. I am a HUGE fan of Hocker but he is now at the level where people want/expect him to vie with Jakob and Kerr for the win and not just to place.
p.s. Same goes for Nuguse! The new expectation is winning not just finishing close to Jakob.

Hocker ran 3.26.7? When was that?
Testies testies 123.

I wonder if this has the potential to be the most downvoted comment in LRC history?

This. Only exert toward the end, save legs for Sunday.
Right? And El G got 1500 gold on his third attempt after being tripped the first time around and beaten by Ngeny on the second.
If Jakob pulls an El G and gets the Olympic 1500/5000 double in LA, he'll be solidified as the GOAT of this era.
