hope the guy who fell is OK, looked like he knocked himself out.
We merged like 5 threads into 1 and sort of combined the titles. Rojo, who said Rooks had a 1% chance at a medal, started a thread pointin gout the betting odds on Bovada were 33-1 when the race started.

Absolute legend. My top moment as a US fan this Olympics, with all respect to Hocker and Nuguse. Just f'n special to see. The balls on this kid. Unreal!

MY god. If that and Quicny Hall in back to back races doesn't make you proud to be an American, you need to have your citizenship stripped.
As I am proud, I will remain as an American.

Agreed. Deeply agreed.
US distance running is in shape.

The Hocker effect
Hocker hasn’t led that much in every race he’s competed in combined.
This was the rooks effect

the thing about the first amendment is that you don't have to be proud to be an american or express any kind of jingoism -- you can even criticize your country -- and your citizenship is equal to everyone else's
Not an American, but loved to see Rooks go for it! Taking everyone on and hoping he could hang on! Great Silver.

Surging to the front at 350 to go was AWESOME. Everyone just watched for about 10 strides trying to figure out what was going on.
im proud of my americans, not proud to be american because they are the ones doing the work.
I was so sad for the first half because he was DFL, but then I realized he was just running the least distance. When he took the lead and gapped everyone I started losing it, and for the 4th time this week I was screaming the last 50m (also did in the 400 that was so sick). Who expected the American 8:15 steepler to grab the bull by the horns on the last lap and just go for it?
9 second PR. Dude's a fighter!
