Greg Kruse out of Central High School in Breese, Illinois. Yeah...this guy one season had his team do Tae-Bo in a pool for practice one day. No running that day...but Tae-Bo in a f***ing pool man. He could have been Arthur f***ing Lydiard the rest of the season (yet, he was far, far, far from it, I mean, his distance crew did 25 miles a week, and a long run of like, 7 miles) and this one practice of water-Tae-Bo makes him the biggest dumbass of a coach ever. Period. Anyone disagree?
Cardinal Spellman HS, Bronx NY, Paul Poliero. Man was this f***ing guy horrible. we too had absolutely no distance days every, for any reason. We only practiced 3 days a week, and they were all horribly rushed because the coach had to meet the babysitter or wait for the repairman or some bs. most practices had to be rushed in 30mins or less. there was no distinction between distance, sprints and mid-distance runners, everyone was trained to be a sprinter, and almost no one broke :25 seconds.
Also, he was so dirt cheap that he'd work as an official in EVERY meet we went to, and never comment on our performance or give advice, just laugh if we did bad or got injured. I'm not joking.
We'd do workouts like 4x400m in :90 with full recovery, and 5x200m 30. HORRIBLE
