Remember what a 20 year old Hocker could do in 2021. He is finally back in that form with 2 years improvement. Obviously he wouldn’t beat Jakob (or Kerr or Fischer) in a 2 mile time trial. I think the last two championships show that the winner in a time trial isn’t necessarily the winner in a championship and he can shift gears like nobody else
Really glad to see Kessler make his first team. He made some early moves that were unneeded, but is learning and improving. It appeared that he thought the finish line was the starting line for the mile. Anybody else notice that?
When the camera cut back to him after the finish, his reaction was less than joyful..but maybe he was saying another word that starts with f.

There’s no such thing as a sit and kick race with Jakob in it. He runs fast, and then very fast. Race over. No way the fastest guys are going to let a race be slow in the finals.
I know he doesn't have any big wins, but Ciattei is learning how to race. Doesn't sit on the rail anymore the entire race, getting a little more liberal using his elbows instead of being a gentleman and has been going out faster that 1st 800 (1:55 and 1:53) his two previous races. Needs to work on being more fluid when running that final 200-400 and he could be in the top 3 Americans.
Absolutely dominates the 1500, no one close. Great tactics
The thing with Hobbs is he was pretty uptight and his tactics were not very good. Lot of wasted energy out there but he moved up but almost lost 2nd when he let up at the line and didn't lean. All good experience for Hobbs today. He will get better with more experience. Championship races are not time trials and that's what he needs. He can correct those mistakes at Worlds. Great race by Hocker. The NCAA and championship races and just the style of racer he is he does better in championship races than time trials and it showed
Definitely. United States has three elite runners to put on the 1500m team for Paris. Nuguse, with the 3:43 talent to actually medal. Hocker, the indoor champion with an 8:05 2 Mile, and Kessler as the young gun on the rise with unlimited potential. This is a big win for Hocker, and impressive for Kessler and Wynne. Wynne has pushing hard in recent years, and is finally able to make a Top three finish. Especially kicking past Teare.
Teare was impressive, he's a lot more fit than his results show. He was really boxed in this race and used all his energy just getting free.
I don’t really think Teare was all that impressive. He was never in it
Holt the bolt is fun to route for, but his unorthodox form seems to have caused a lot of issues for this field. Almost ruined Kessler’s race. Glad he was there mixing it up, though.
