She may start and DNF. I know contracts are kept confidential. Could we presume there is an appearance fee for trials from her sponsor and starting the race? She may just start and run a few miles to get paid.

Ever been injured before? You don't know what you don't know and when you do know, you hope you're wrong. And I'm just spitballing here, but maybe she is too busy to update the world because she has been offered a date with a Top 5 Canadian T&F athlete.
Indeed and why is she obliged to let all the fanboys here know her every move and thought? The only obligation she has is to herself and her sponsors, and I'm sure her sponsors are quite aware of what isn't or is happening.
She is shown running in some instagram posts from about a month ago/slightly less than a month ago. So somebody thinks she immediately went and had surgery (literally immediately, as that would have been about four weeks ago). Right.
Not a single one of the sites cited here is run by a relevant official governing body that demonstrates a "professional sports injury protocol". They are all news companies or some randos website and as such they provide unofficial information with zero guarantee that any of this information is valid, accurate or relevant.
In summary, a good attempt at substantiating a rumour, but D- for accuracy.
Let me guess, Molly, the male doctor mansplained to you about your health as a woman during the surgery. One of the female nurses told him to relax and he responded by pounding on the operating table and telling the nurse to be quiet, for she is only a woman and is not allowed to vote. Molly then owned him with facts and logic about the female reproductive system. Then all of the women clapped while "All the Single Ladies" played loudly over the intercom system, and all of the female doctors tipped Molly $100s for her bravery.
Looking forward to the fantastical tweet/post/lie from Molly documenting her great win over the patriarchy.

Her fans, like myself, see her as a great competitor who has the ability to dictate the race this weekend (assuming she's healthy). I would like to think if she was injured and not racing the Trials she would feel an obligation to make a public statement. Her silence tells me that she's doing everything in her capability to toe the line this weekend and that includes staying off social media.

You are a real piece of work, buddy.
I think people who make up fake stories on the internet to help maintain their own perceptions about the world are the real pieces of work.
her knee has been wrapped up on and off for years. I think she finally just had surgery to fix whatever the issue was is my guess.
The only weird thing is back when she won the bronze medal she was taping her left knee, and lately it's been her right knee. Or, I've also seen her tape both knees. It's the type of taping used to reduce PF pain, so I, I don't know. My point is, I just don't see her having surgery on both knees this close to the trials and that her taping seems to be more to address of an overuse soreness issue that she gets in one or both knees.
She is sponsored by KT Tape® which is like being sponsored by Laerdal, the makers of neck braces. If you actually needed it, you probably won't be doing anything amazing to represent your brand as you would be INJURED. She finds creative ways to always wear it to give visibility to the sponsor, you know, like she gets paid to do.
Every professional sport has protocols for requiring injury disclosures.
Let’s be honest, the reason the NFL and NBA have become so stringent about this the past few years is because of the explosion in legalized sports betting.

As many will. 25%-35% of the field will DNF.
I would say close to 100% of the runners who have a legitimate chance to finish in the top three will DNF if they are not in the mix and feeling good at 25k-30K. It makes sense, they will recover quickly as if its is a long tempo run and be able to race another Major Marathon in the April/May timeframe.
