Currently at 1,222 miles for 2024 so I will not be hitting 2,000 total miles this calendar year, but that’s okay! I essentially took May off from running after my April marathon, and have slowly built back up to 100-120 miles a month at the back end of the year.
I don't think you get to call yourself "something something marathoner" if you only run 30 miles a week.
For people who obviously devote a lot of your lives and identities to running, you sure don't do a lot of it.
Maybe 14 weeks of the year they averaged 70 miles per week for 980 total miles and then chilled the rest of the year.
When I was a competitive hobbyjogger in my late 20s, my goal was always to “run the year” in miles (ex: 2024 miles in 2024). I hit that mark each year from 2016-2019, averaging ~2100 per year during that stretch. Nowadays, I run more casually (3x a week), but should clear 700 this year with a solid December.

I guess you're lucky you weren't born in the 3000's
