So if some anonymous poster on a message board tells you the odds are 1/100 you will get the jab but if they tell you it's 1/1,000,000 you won't?
The first aid guy already gave you good advice.
broadly speaking, yes, but it depends on their general demeanour, spelling and grammar etc. i would like to build a rapport with them through some back and forth forum chat, so i can get a feel for their competency. and preferably they should not be american as a disproportionate amount of those guys seem to be mildly retarded.

It is rare. But just use this time to get your DTAP. Most of us adults are way behind. I think many UC centers can even do it. Very low political side effects.

Why getting a tetanus shot. Just wait and see what happens and report back.
It's probably not that badTetanus Symptoms
Tetanus symptoms result from a toxin produced by tetanus bacteria. Symptoms
often begin around a week after a person is infected. But this may range
from 3 days to 3 weeks or even longer. The most common symptom is a
stiff jaw, which can become "locked." This is how the disease came to be
called lockjaw.Symptoms of tetanus may include:
Headache Muscle stiffness, starting in the jaw, then the neck and the arms, legs, or abdomen
Trouble swallowing
Restlessness and irritability
Sweating and fever
Palpitations and high blood pressure
Muscle spasms in the face, causing a strange-looking steady smile or grin
If not treated, tetanus can cause death from suffocation.Get the shot as quickly as possible.
I'd wait it out. And if you do get it: Cowboy up with a couple swigs of whiskey.
Certainly it's unnecessary and the Pro-tetanus-shoters just want to get their tracking chip in you asap.
finally the answer i was looking for.

how likely am i to get tetanus, is this like a 1 in 100 thing or 1 in 100,000?
Are you kidding? Go see a doc
Do people really go to see a doctor about something sharp poking their foot?
OP, when was your last tetanus booster? If unknown, or long ago, get one. I got one at CVS once. Took 5 minutes. Tetanus vax is very effective and antibodies persist a long time but if you are unsure, get it or ask a doctor. In fact, just ask a doctor because there are probably other things you are more likely to get from such a wound.
Get the shot.
It's free, at least in first-world countries, and only takes a couple minutes.
You really do not want to get tetanus.

Just to be clear, if you have a dirty wound, you need the tetanus IG, not just the vaccine. You needed the vaccine before, now you have a nasty wound you might need the immunoglobulin. Still not that hard but doubt CVS has it. Go to UC.
Get the shot, Wilbur.
I think IG is only when the person is unvaccinated which is almost nobody in this country. Significant wounds should be evaluated for sure for several reasons not just the possibility of tetanus.

Probably zero chance in infinity.
I accidentally stepped on a nail a couple of months ago that went through the shoe and about an inch straight up into the middle of my heel. I washed it off and rubbed on some powdered sulfur, but did nothing else.
Personally I'd be more concerned about an unknown toxic chemical concoction being injected into me by some stranger who gets paid for making people sick.
Are you still alive?
We need some updates.
Tetanus is another one of those imaginary so called diseases, that have never been proven to exist.

If you absolutely can’t get a tetanus shot for whatever reason then go on Amazon and buy some colloidal silver for delivery asap. Put it on the wound for a week or more. Colloidal silver is what was used before antibiotics and it kills antibiotic-resistant bacteria. You can even drink it and no it won’t turn you blue, I’ve taken it for years. My grandmother used to use it.
Are there any cattle grazing in the region where you suffered the injury? This is the risk factor. You should get the shot. You do NOT want a tetanus infection. I've seen it on ranches years ago. You probably won't die, but you wouldn't like it at all.
