Over 30 killed in BLM riots...were total sentences cumulative to even 22 years for all of those?
Yes. All told, an order of magnitude more than 22 years.
Just as of August 2021: The AP found that more than 120 defendants across the United States have pleaded guilty or were convicted at trial of federal crimes including rioting, arson and conspiracy. More than 70 defendants who’ve been sentenced so far have gotten an average of about 27 months behind bars. At least 10 received prison terms of five years or more.
Thanks for posting that. It's good to know that the DOJ was and is going after Black Lives Matter rioter/looters, at least to some degree. I'd also point out that AP article seems to be limited to federal prosecutions, whereas much of the Black Lives Matter crimes were probably state crimes. I hope the states have also arrested and prosecuted a lot of these criminals.
Another factor in any lack of prosecution of Black Lives Matters rioter/looters is that they were not as idiotic as the January 6th rioters who note only videod themselves and passed the evidence among their friends and family, but they posted evidence of their crimes on social media as well. The BLM criminals were a tad more sophisticated in their crimes, conspiracies and cover ups.
Very different events - BLM riots vs. January 6th riots. Apples and oranges. Which doesn't diminish the enormous harms caused by either one, just points how that they are very different as far as prosecution.

LOL that article is terrible and a demonstration of the level of "journalism" produced at AP nowadays. No mention of the total number who engaged in BLM "peaceful protests" relative to the number facing charges compared to January 6th rioters. The fraction charged is much larger for January 6th than for the BLM "peaceful protests," which should tell you something.

The catalysts for the riot and the demonstrations for racial justice were also fundamentally different.
The mob of Trump supporters whipped up by the former president’s lies about the election descended on the Capitol and pushed past police barriers, assaulted officers, smashed windows and sent lawmakers running in a stunning attempt to overturn the presidential election.
The demonstrations after Floyd’s death were largely peaceful calls to address racial inequality and police brutality that occasionally turned violent. In some cities, protests descended into chaos after dark, with people smashing windows, looting stores, setting fires and assaulting officers.
The BLM "peaceful protests" were good and the January 6th riots were bad so it's reasonable they face more charges. Just a pure value judgment.

Only a handful of the nearly 600 people who’ve been charged in the insurrection have received their punishments so far, and just three people have been sentenced to time behind bars. The vast majority of the most serious cases — involving those accused of assaulting police officers or conspiring to block the certification of Biden’s victory — remain unresolved.
This article was worthless at the time anyway since many of the trials hadn't gone to court yet.

The dissonance between the rhetoric of Capitol rioters and their supporters and the record established by courts highlights both the racial tension inherent in their arguments — the pro-Donald Trump rioters were largely white and last summer’s protesters were more diverse — and the flawed assessment at the heart of their claims.

I expect that most of the prosecutions stemming from BLM protests were local prosecutions under state law. Unless a federal crime was committed, the DOJ wouldn't have jurisdiction to prosecute.

Facts matter little to whataboutists. Law and order be damned.
A non-Black man was convicted but posters turned a thread into a BLM riot thread. Classic Let'srun.com
Tarrio is black.
Unless you post a video of man in question clearly stating he is Black, more likely than not, you would get a nuanced answer, an answer Alexandria Ocasio Cortez gives when asked if she is Black: I am sure have some African heritage.
That doesn't let the majority of posters off the hook on this thread. The majority of the posters on this thread turned this thread in a BLM riot thread.
I don't see the point? Were January 6th protesters/rioters protesting for or against BLM?
He did no such thing, period. A Democrat lie once again.
The article was very vague on what this guy actually did. The only concrete evidence listed was that he received some sort of plan to recreate 1776. Not that he sent it anywhere, but that he received it. This makes no sense.

Hmmmm . . . I see what you mean, Carmine/Newname. In defense of the article's author, it was an article about Tarrio's sentencing not his conviction.
But anyway, the trial transcripts and pleadings (source material) are probably the best sources of information for people, like yourself, who admit to somehow still being confused about the strength and amount of evidence leading to Tarrio's criminal convictions.

Ocasio Cortez doesn't know what color Tarrio is. Tarrio does though. He knows he's black. Are you aware of the racial barriers that Tarrio had to break down to become the first black president of the Proud Boys? I don't think you are.
He deserved every year of his 22 year sentence. Attempting to hijack the elections, threaten to harm political leaders, and acting in a seditious manner. He got off easy. He will appeal though and hopefully that will be struck down as well.
He's probably banking on Trump to win the White House and then pardon him and all the others.
Liberal-loving RINO judge (almost certainly, in spite of how he might look in all the Deep State-doctored phtos, with Black Panther parents who were both violent commies and pearl-clutching traitors against "blacks" like Tarrio) threw the book at him and used that pseudo-intellectual, coastal-elite, nonfat-soy-latte-drinking Lib love of book learning to throw said book with a weak throwing motion deployed by all wimps who prize book learning over the street smarts and lived experience of Real American Patriots who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their good-hearted champion of the Little Guy and of all that is good and true.
You sound like the King of England. Sedition is what America is all about.
No, NO KINGS is what America is all about. Donnie 2 Scoops wants to be above the law. He wants to be king/dictator/fascist sheethead in charge. He is still trying to intimidate people and rile up violent losers to commit violent crimes for him.
