So I think the rationale is she never wants to get boxed? However, I see Moraa run somewhat wide, but what she does is if someone tries to squeeze by (like happened in her heat) she'll subtly accelerate and move slightly inward to block them/discourage it. That's what kinda missing from Mu's style, though she did seemingly do a bit of a cut-in on Keely last year but ultimately didn't block an inside pass (if Keely had been able to surge again). I see the argument for no hugging the rail, but Mu seems to be too extreme the other way, and not protecting against the inside pass like you see many athletes do.
To me that would be the argument for staying a little wide on lap 1, but on lap 2 when the field is spread out (and she typically is leading)?

I agree. The part that makes no sense is she does it even when nobody is within 5 meters of her. And then her reaction to athletes on her inside is inconsistent. If she always closed the door on them and blocked the inside pass, you could just call this smart racing. But at USAs in the 1500, that wasn't the case.

You’re mistaking that with the coffee club contingent. Imagine their roller coaster of emotions with Hoare out, then Nuguse dominating…with klecker lapped then beamish kicking home.
