I think Clint Eastwood considers himself a Libertarian. At least that's what he called himself on his wife's short-lived realty show a few years ago. I wouldn't call him an ULTRA conservative. I met him twice while doing deliveries in Carmel twenty years ago. He's actually a pretty down-to-earth guy. I've always considered myself pretty liberal, but never an extreme left wing fanatic.

The Beguiled, 1971 was directed by Don Siegel. Don Siegel was producer along with Jennings Lang. The Beguiled was a book written by Thomas Cullinan. I can find no evidence Clint Eastwood had any say in the script. Clint Eastwood has produced and directed a lot of movies, not The Beguiled. Any anger with scene in question should be elsewhere, not towards Clint Eastwood.
