Some v people may think the Z.R. case may have had some influence in this decision but that might be a cynical viewpoint?

Quick translation: He comments on Instagram that he no longer wants the omnipresent pressure of the stopwatch and he would rather run in nature in a natural way where he can be in symbiosis with nature and all that is good instead of the artificial pressure of the roads and the stopwatch.

If only there was some form of mass communication that could get the word out. Or even if there was a logo or something on the shoes or even clothing. Alas, what could have been
Here for example, French trail monster, Mathieu Blanchard, ran the Paris marathon today in 2:22:+ in Salomon shoes which is going to do a lot of good publicity to the brand.
Notice how much more muscular trail monsters are in comparison with your average marathon monster. This guy, Blanchard, would get kudos in any gym from other members envious of his cut and well-defined physique. Similar physique to the Lithuanian 100 km monster Aleksandr Sorokin. Incidentally, both of these dudes have been training in ITEN Kenya for the past few months over extended periods of time.

Is this the fastest known marathon runner that's switched over to the trails/ultras?
From what I gather most trail runners are very mediocre 2:18-2:22 types of guys (e.g. Sage Canaday, Seth James Demoor, Tim Tollefson).
It's be interesting to see what a very fast road runner can do on the trails with a few years of training.
There's a 2:10 Canadian that switched to Ultra trail racing last year, very mediocre results from him. In just the general category of ultra, there's been plenty of sub 2:10 guys who have done comrades. But once you switch from a road or track ultra, technicality of the trails and the grades they are going up and down stresses the muscles much more differently than a road race. It mountain trail racing in general the physiology to excell is a bit more different. Not saying a 2:06 marathoner couldn't win Western states or UTMB, but they couldn't do it without focusing on the trails for a few years.
