Nevermind ignore this I looked at some old runs I did recently around 1500m and pretty certain you mean make faster.

It’s never easy.
Yeah I guess a better turn of phrase would have been 'bang for a decathlete's buck' session.

Ignore everyone else and do this. You need endurance. You already have speed and strength from other event training.

I got back into track around a year a few months ago. My last decathlon 1500m was around the 5:30 mark. I know the decathlon is primarily anaerobic but I would still want to improve my aerobic capability as my 1500m isn't up to standard still with what regular "good" decathletes would run (4:30-4:50ish). I'm aiming for a 4:45, can anyone help?
Thanks
You are probably pretty good at the 400m, so here is a good session that the 1500m runners I know have been doing. It is "a lot of bang for the buck."
4 sets of (300m hard + 100 float + 300m hard + 100m float); with a 400m jog between each of the 4 sets.
This is a great way to get two miles of training in but only takes like 20 minutes to do the whole workout. Do the 300 "on" segments at your 1500m goal pace, not too much faster.
Hi,
I've managed to hit target pace for what you mentioned for the "Once a week, do something like 6-8 x 600m-800m repeats @ 4:00 km pace, with ~2:00 rest." after getting some nice Takumi Sens but I'm still :30/km pace slower for the "6 x 4 minutes @ 4:20 / km pace, with 60 sec rest." sessions. I have to do them at around 4:50/km otherwise I get gassed up so badly around the 4th rep. I'm just not used to such short rests. Any advice?
Also what 1500 time am I looking at if I hit the 6-8 x 600m-800m repeats / 2'r at the pace you mentioned?
