This is an interesting evolution of the barefoot concept. In the heady days of the post-Born to Run fad, the claim was that running barefoot would make you more efficient, less injury-prone, and thus faster than running with shoes.

If that was the case, then you wouldn't need any special category of "running while the barefoot" - you'd just be running and competing with all comers. Instead, you're making barefoot running a special category, like those people who set Guinness records for fastest marathon running in a superhero costume or running with a stroller or running while juggling.

(FWIW, a friend of mine has held several joggling world records, and what he does is amazing. Then again, he never tries to claim that joggling makes you a faster runner.)

In the USA this might work with your clean roads and sidewalks but in the UK it would be horrible.

Looks like he's chickened out of racing me anyway.

Hey, what if we just ‘run’ a race to see who could go farthest? Who can skip over hurdles the fastest.

Keith Bateman is 68years old, he ran 31.51 in his mid 50s, and would still break 34min barefoot. You're a decent runner, but you're a million miles from being anything special.
