It's like Obama saying he is black when he could say he is white. Why would he not choose white? Why would at least 50% of people so able and inclined to choose between black and white not chose white instead of black? I bet Obama's genealogy report is something like 66 percent non-African continent. even if that's wrong, most offspring of US Americans who mate interracially, "black" and "white," have more European ancestry than strictly black African.
Umm... ever heard of the "one drop rule"?
Yes, of course, and "black" people hated it and it was detestable. Why go the other way now?
The fact that anyone actually takes this absurdity even a little bit seriously is absolutely hilarious. Anyone engaging in even discussing topics like this deserves to be mocked.

Even today, many white people refuse to accept (black/white) biracial people as members of their own group.
Who? Who are the some of the "many white people" that you can identify that do this and when do they do it (in what I suspect are exceedingly rare instances where the "issue" even comes up)?

All groups do this.
Blacks are racist to lighter skinned blacks.
Asians are racist to darker skinned asians.
The notion that only white people can be racist is utter stupidity.
There's a reason this woke nonsense only happens in the majority white west.
I dont know where you live, but in the NYC metro area (millions of people) this just isn't true at all. People hang out with everyone. Socioeconomic status is 10000x a better identifier of who forms groups than race.

Many lighter skin blacks are demeaning of darker skin blacks in degradations of shade. Insecurity and insults don't know too many boundaries.

I think nearly everyone is racist, but Gen Xers and Millennials were taught that racism is the worst of all evils and I think that was harmful to our understanding of it.
Literally just stfu and produce value. So sick of the race stuff in today's day and age. And I'm a Biden guy.
You are part of the problem. You voted for a demented, incapable, racist, idiot and wonder why the libs continue to use race to divide. Keep voting for Dems and wonder why America is collapsing.

I hope that Hobby poster comes back and answers this. Who are the "many white people that refuse to accept biracial people" as members of "their own group" and when do they make this refusal?
I think its these constant broad accusations of racism that get thrown in and accepted as an explanation and conclusion for damn near everything, that have really raised the hysteria level, and led to horrible decisions, policies, and injustices.

Okay, tell us how many white people would accept Obama as "white." Do you accept his claim if Obama said he was white?
Do you accept Mike Tirico as "white"? When he suggested he self-identified as white, most people (of all races) thought it was absurd.

I'm asking you two questions about your support for your affirmative statement. Turning my questions to you around and asking me hypothetical, rhetorical questions is not a real answer, and leads me to believe you don't have a real answer.

My answer is that many white people would not consider Obama "white" even if he claimed to identify as white.
The same goes for any biracial person who does not "pass" as white. Many people would probably accept Devon Allen as "white."
And if you still ask when this happens, all I can say is you need to get out of your tiny bubble.

Yeah, right. I'm in a bubble because I've never speculated about the hypothetical situation as to what white people might say if Obama announces he's white.
Basically what you've said is that you have no basis at all to say "many white people refuse to accept (black/white) biracial people as members of their own group" and just posted it because you think it might (and desire it to be) true.

We don't have to speculate. When Tirico said he was white, he was met with bewilderment and ridicule.

None of these labels matter and will keep changing with the seasons. What won’t change for a very long time is that Blacks are special and we will be forced as a society to be aware of their blackness in interactions with them. No other group really cares (not counting virtue signaling) about their race or skin color according or denying them privilege.
The amount of non-Black people obsessed with race on this site show that it’s not just Blacks that cares about it.
It’s mostly virtue signaling. Most people deep inside don’t actually care about other people, only about how they are viewed by others, especially the others they consider valuable.
Asian-Americans question why their beauty is judged by how light their skin is in a new anthology, Whiter. Among its stories is that of a woman born to a Chinese mother and a black father who experienced rejection from Chines...
