The problem with IPAs are that there are too many being made that are not good. A well-made IPA is a lot different and better.
I go through phases but I do get tired of IPAs pretty quickly. It also depends on the season. It's getting cold now so I prefer beer that is a bit more viscous. A good stout, Russian stout, porters, Scotch Ales, a Belgian Trappist or Dubbel, or some of the seasonal Christmas beers. There is a lot of taste in those beers.
If you ever get up to the Boston area, make an effort to stop at the Treehouse Brewery and pick up a 4 pack of Julius. It is hazy but drinks more like an IPA. Alter Ego & Green are also well-made. Treehouse only sells their beer at the brewery and what they have available changes so check the website.
Overall I prefer a pale ale over an IPA. They drink a lot easier without the overbearing hops. 3 Floyds Zombie Dust or even Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale are my go tos.
In the summer heat after doing a lot of yard work or coming back from a run, hike, or bike ride, I like beer that is lighter. New Glarus Spotted Cow is a favorite. It is a saison and can only be bought in Wisconsin but is one of my favorites and if I am ever in Wisconsin I'll buy a case. Good pilsners are good summer beers also. Bud Light gets a lot of hate but in the summer I really like the Bud Light Lemon or Lime after getting sweaty. They go down a little too easy. And somehow Corona has become the beer we buy when camping. There is an IGA down the road from where we camp in northern Michigan and we will pick it up there and keep it on ice. I've never been a huge Corona fan and having it while camping has become a weird tradition for us. It tastes great to me when camping though I never drink it otherwise.
