Yakob and Wightman too high. Let's be real, these wins are flukes and will be insignificant in the grand scheme of things, like Tefera beating Covid Yakob.
Lol. Spoken like a true loser. This is why no one is ever going to like or follow e Africans
Lowest tier should be the mens steeple, long jump, mens 400, womens high jump, discus in my eyes
Men's steeple is like D- tier, it was definitely the worst race of the meet.
I agree with OP that mixed relays are a bit stupid (was it really USA hubris or USA just not caring??)
The men's 110 hurdles ranking had nothing to do with Holloway, rather the whole Allen DQ affair was an embarrassment to the sport and it's reputation which is unfortunate.
Great post, fellow Zeppelin-head. I would bump up Ingebrigtsen's 5k and Mu's 800 and make a few other minor adjustments but generally agree with your analysis.
Not sure about the relays, if only because they are not run often and generally not with the best athletes (and not at their peak) which makes the overall performance questionable. Also it favors a country more than an incredible athlete performance.
Need an * for the 100 W hurdles.
Also, the steeple was garbage but to see a 2'32" final km in a steeple is mind boggling. I can't even do that with no hurdles.

discus? the men's competition was one of the strongest ever and definitely should be in any 1st category. the women's at the podium also was one of the strongest since decades.

The mixed relay final was quite entertaining. The gold and silver medal teams certainly took the event seriously! I am fine with that event continuing, with the U.S. sitting it out, unless it chooses to enter its best runners.
Jakob's utter and thorough domination of one of, if not THE best, 5000 fields ever assembled was definitely A-tier. A new era in distance running, the Jakobian, has begun.
i would say 1 Sydney McLaghlan 2 Toby Amusan 3 Jacob Ingrebritsen-A lot of 1500ers can get lucky as the race is random, but to come back and win a 5K because you're that hungry to win 4 Sharicka Jackson 5 Anderson Peters-The guy got either two or three 90 meter throws. That's only been done 4 times this season I believe 6 Canada 4 X 1 7 Noah Lyles 8 Armand Duplantis in the PV 9 Faith Kipyegon-It was a daring move to the front. It's showing she never loses and that's helping her reputation 10 Shelly Ann Frasier Pryce-That she's won from 2008 to 2022, that's a big gap 11 Mutaz Essa Barshim-He was extremely dominant and smooth through the jumps, and has now won his event 3 or 4 times. Age isn't getting to him. The level of the competition was also really even here. 12 Pablo Pichardo--If I remember, he got out really strong with 2 jumps oout front which shut everyone down 13 Women's 4X 1 14 Kevin Mayer- Decathlon-He stuck through it in most events that weren't his strong suite and with Javelin, high jump, and hurdles I believe he went to the upper lengths of his range 15 Soufie El Bakkali, 3K St-He was in control the entire time, I was extremely impressed by how long he waited to make his move

More like C or D tier.
Hey, take it easy on poor Grant, he can't help that those mean track builders keep putting that damn rail in his way!
Great post! One of the best ever. I read all of it. I agree with 98%. Just a few things I wanted to mention:
Grant Holloway is pure class.
[1] He won the gold medal at the World Championships [2] He saluted the national anthem and flag of the USA during the medal ceremony [3] He hugged/embraced his teammate on the podium [4] He spend so much time taking photos and signing autographs for the fans [5] He gave his long sleeve uniform to Shot Putter Kovacs to wear for his medal ceremony
• Tamirat Tola Marathon 2:05:36 belongs higher on your list. Dude is a beast. Ran a 2:40 kilometer to break away from the rest.
• Kimberly García 20 kilometres walk 1:26:58, 35 kilometres walk 2:39:16 should get recognition. I understand you are not a fan of walking (neither am I) but the Marcel Jobin's of the world have worked very hard for their sport:
